So, despite massive subsidy by the national party, Ben Nelson has thrown in the towl. One million dollars in national advertising money (!) has been wasted on this conservative hack this year alone. Nelson, of course, has been one of the least loyal members of Congress, a strong supporter of reactionary conservatism and almost never voting for party policy except after holding it up for months. And yet he has been among the congressmen best-endowed with federal finances (while real Democrats like Grayson go wanting). Good riddence, I say. The only bad side: "top Democrats see popular former Sen. Bob Kerrey as a potential candidate." Can the DNC learn? www.politico.com/news/stories/1211/70879.html

So, despite massive subsidy by the national party, Ben Nelson has thrown in the towl. One million dollars in national advertising money (!) has been wasted on this conservative hack this year alone. I agree that it is a very inconsiderate time for him to make this announcement. Especially considering that the state party now has a limited amount of time to vet and groom a potential candidate for the 2012 season. Nelson, of course, has been one of the least loyal members of Congress, a strong supporter of reactionary conservatism and almost never voting for party policy except after holding it up for months... Good riddence, I say. In regards to your "good riddance" comment, I think I will post a link to a video of Lawerence O'donnell that hits on many points that similarly represent my sentiments on the situation. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/45801611#45801611 And yet he has been among the congressmen best-endowed with federal finances (while real Democrats like Grayson go wanting). Such is the nature of being a tie breaker in the senate.
