WTF? Even the title of this one is horrible. Also, horrible cover, horrible album: The sad part is, I own it. I think. Somewhere.

I can't help thinking of Jim Carroll: "They were all my friends and they died."

Interesting story, that of Orion. Not just an Elvis impersonator... those who promoted him (including Gail Brewer-Giorgio, who later made a small fortune from propagating Elvis-is-alive theories) claimed that he was Elvis. He even had the gall to record on Sun Records - or rather the propped-up corpse of Sun, after Shelby Singleton bought it from Sam Phillips. The back cover had an excerpt from a glurgy novel Brewer-Giorgio wrote about Orion being Elvis.

+1 for Terri (later, your up to #3 now). I have to re-read the Basketball Diaries. Wow, thanks for that! Hard to believe he recorded that 29 years ago. It still kicks serious ass. People only remember Carroll as having been played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie version of that book... (grumble) Jim Carroll and Tonio K., my first exposures to punk.

Ohhhh, how I hated that movie. They take a great book and slap a stupid Disney ending on it. I was so pissed.
I also won't read the book in public because I am sick of people who walk up to me and tell me how much they loved the movie.
I love the song Catholic boy too, but I couldn't find it on youtube I have allies in heaven and comrades in hell

Indeed, there's a very good reason they changed it for the 2002 remaster. Allegedly, though, Dave actually wanted the now official remaster artwork for the cover, but the studio lost it.
