I don't know if this is old news to most folks or what but when I saw this I about fell out of my chair laughing. I take back all the things I said about christians not having a sense of humor...well ok, most of the things I have said. About the first minute and a half is intro, then the prank starts... Anyway let me know what you think, damn now they have me thinking about finding a way to prank my brother like that, but I don't think he would take it as well.

It was both cruel and hilarious at the same time. She actually thought the rapture had occurred. But at least, thanks to her "friends", that's the closest she'll ever get to experiencing it.

It was both cruel and hilarious at the same time. Our Teutonic bretheren have a lovely word for emotional reactions such as that: shadenfreude. ;D

I'll admit it. I laughed. But I've never really enjoyed a prank that makes someone cry, even if it is hilarious.
Okay, I also laughed when I saw the look on her face once she realized she was on TV...

The Christian obsessed over the Rapture and the guy using a Mac got left behind. I hope that's what the real Rapture is like.

I normally don't like stupid pranks like this, but I laughed. It was funny. It was also really sad because it's just playing on some poor dumb rapturite's fear that he or she will be left behind because they weren't Christian enough or whatever.

I laughed too, not so much at the prank itself as at the host's "Christian" justification for it - essentially 'We did this not because it's funny, but to teach that girl a lesson about priorities. Now watch as the prankster and her confederates convince their mark she's despised of God and has been left behind at the Rapture. Laughter will ensue.' I think the prank itself would have been funnier if it were pulled on a Christian critic of the Left Behind novels: "I..I....I was so convinced I was right! Oh God. Oh God..."

I read the thread title as "Jurassic Park." I have no idea how that happened, but after I reread it I was so disappointed.
Surprisingly enough, this didn't make me laugh. It was sort of funny, I guess, but I just felt really sad for the girl. I mean, she actually thought the rapture had happened. It seemed like the rapture was the first thing she thought of. Then she started crying.
I can't really explain it. I just know that I feel really sorry for that girl. Not because she was pranked, but because she fell for it so hard.

I guess I felt a little sorry for her, but mostly, I just didn't find it funny.

Next, they find a woman whose deathly afraid of spiders, kidnap her and dump loads and loads of tarantulas all over her.

Next, they find a woman whose deathly afraid of spiders, kidnap her and dump loads and loads of tarantulas all over her. Interesting way to look at it. But, like most analogies, I think it falls short in several areas: 1. No kidnapping was done. 2. She took it pretty well. 3. There's really a difference between a prank & torture, which I believe is a fitting description for the hypothetical. 4. ? 5. PROFIT! Meh. At least they were trying to break that whole, "I can't wait for the apocalypse!" mentality.

Bah, I still say it was funny as hell, sure they let her really freak out for all of 30 seconds or so, big deal. From my point of view it was because they showed her exactly what she expected to see and talked about all the time with her friends. A "normal" person would never fall for it that instantly or completely, they would try calling friends, run outside looking around, something to verify it before they freaked.
Hell if you look at it from one point of view she had her faith tested and passed with flying colors, of course thinking you'd been left if you were devout really would suck. I bet she was praying about 50 times a day for months afterwards just to make sure that she was really 'covered'. Which I have to guiltily admit I also find mildly amuseing.
Sheesh some of you are some real softies...which isn't necessarily a bad thing...
