Meh, they'll just use it to play lame-ass Christian Rock (oxymoronic much?).

I'm like the black sheep in my family. My parents and my siblings all play the guitar. And they play really well, too. And then there's me....

I am very good friends with some Salvation Army types. They can get a little fundy, but I have sung and played at their church services, and at the shelter. I do mean, bluesy acoustic versions of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Amazing Grace", amongst several others. I do not perform them in the "traditional" way. One of the homeless guys at the shelter couldn't see me, only hear the music. Was he shocked when he saw me; thought I was a black singer from N'orlans. I have played music with a number of my Christian friends, who are well aware that I am an atheist. The lyrics are kinda lame, but the music can be done with some flair and fun. Call it my "secular outreach program".

Maybe they'll come up with their own sub genre. Rapture Rock. Or worse yet rapture rap. The very thought makes suicide compulsory.

Dunno what it is about guitar that is so relaxing for me. Hell I can barely play, but there is nothing more relaxing for me than coming home from a stressful day at work, grabbing a beer and plopping down on the couch and playing my acoustic.
Thanks for posting that 12 strings are easier to play than 6 strings JonathanE. Now even more tempted to buy that Rickenbacker 360-12 I've been coveting for years. Must resist temptation, must resist temptation.

rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=66484Just poking around over there and found this thread...WHY!?! AREN'T THE END TIEMS COMING?!? DON'T YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO? I don't get it. Shit, fundies need to get the fuck of my instument. I play acoustic guitar, electric bass guitar and I do (unclean) vocals. If they are doing any of these they need to die. Thankfuly, I think the chances of a fundie doing my type of vocals is very low, so I think I'm good in that regard.

Must resist temptation, must resist temptation. Rickenbackers got popular with the Beatles; Harrison played one and it was picked up by the Byrds. I had one, nice guitar, but nothing really special. I own a Gianini 12-string, ala Jose Feliciano and like the one used on Zep acoustic sections. I own a few electric guitars, but almost universally play acoustic or semi-acoustic. I just like the mellow sound of acoustics.

Fuck yeah, that's what I'm talking about! I've always wanted to do that; just like Jimmy Page. Is that just a normal bridge on there? If so I could still do it with mine. My cat was looking at the computer during the video; I wonder what he'd do if I decided to take up the cello. But then he also watches South Park, so..... ;D

I know their is nothing truly special about Ricks, I like the jangly arpeggiated music that seems to commonly played on them. I'm sure I could get that sound with other guitars, but I also like the aesthetics of Ricks. I also do very much like the sound acoustics, have a cedar top Seagull and it sounds great.

Seagulls are nice little boxes, with the advantage of actually being made in North America. I bought one for a friend once, and she loves it. Pretty slick guitar for its price range, with a nice bottom end, too.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy a First Act. Those of us in instrument repair call those Instrument-Shaped Objects. ^_^

Must resist temptation, must resist temptation. I suffer from panic attacks, and before I found a med that worked, one of the things that kept me sane was playing guitar. I don't find my 12 string easier to play, but I really need to have the action adjusted, so that could just be me.
