I'm currently unemployed, which means I need money and have a lot of time on my hands, ergo I am very very OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS! Commissions start at $15 for sketches, $25 for inked drawings and $50 for full color drawings, with an extra $20-30 for the original. ACEOs are $25, original included. I can do portraits, character portraits, pin-ups, cartoons, story illustrations, action scenes and much, much more! I can even do custom clip-art packs! (price depends on complexity and number of images) Details are here. If you are interested, comment, PM or email me at john.erickson.socal@gmail.com .

*crickets chirping*
Nobody? I've been told my prices are pretty cheap. Am I that crappy an artist or is everyone else just as broke as me?
P.S. Did I mention that I can do dirty stuff too? And I don't just draw fat chicks either. Skinny women, busty women, men, something in between... furries, fetish, whatever you want! (within reason)
P.P.S. Yes, I am an art whore, albeit so far an unsuccessful one.

You're petitioning your art on a forum for mocking stupid people.
Even though I sympathise with your plight, & have sometimes thought of getting some drawings done for that story-I-keep-mentioning-that-probably-won't-get-done, if I wanted to, I could probably get my friend Kakie to do it for free.
So...sorry, but I'm just that broke.

There's a lot more going on on this forum than just mocking stupid people, and I've been petitioning all over the net.
But yeah, the responses I have been getting indicate that everyone's just broke.

Yes, but the basic purpose of FSTDT is mocking stupid people. And do you petition IRL? Maybe show off some of your work? I'm guessing the answer is "yes," but I'm just throwing ideas out.

John, I would *love* to have several things by you, actually. I've seen some of the samples of your work, and I think it's wonderful. The summer is a terrible time for me to spend money, though. We basically live off our emergency money we put back for the summer time, so I can't until the fall when I actually get a paycheck again! But I want three things. I want two color (or maybe one color one inked) of Dante, one for me and one for my mother. And then I want another (haven't decided what kind yet) for Dante's grandma of him and some of his cousins. I've actually been planning this for a few months, but there is just no extra cash here until September, unfortunately! So right now I'm getting my photos together and it's on my list of stuff that will be done this coming fall. I really wish I could do it sooner -- money is tight for everybody, and I know it's tight for you right now. Also, folks, just fyi, these kinds of things make incredible birthday and Xmas presents for people -- it's incredibly personalized and you are sure to be remembered as the one who gave the "good" gift. Oh, and obviously FSTDT is more than just a mockery site -- why bother having a "creative outlet" subforum otherwise??

Yeah, I show at sci-fi/fantasy conventions too, but nobody's bought anything from me there in a few years. I'm guess it's just the crappy economy. I sure hope things pick up soon.

Dante: Again, the point is that the board has a primary, advertised purpose. Does it deviate from that? Yes. A lot more so than most, actually. But what I'm saying is that I've never been particularly inclined to buy art off of a forum, especially not one that had nothing to do with art.
John: Try street vending? I don't know.

Could always whore your art or yourself and your art on a street corner or public place. Sorda like those guys with the guitars they can't play that try to get change from people walking by as they 'play' it.

People may not be broke, or hate your artwork. They might just like, you know, not want anything. I've bought like 2 pieces of commissioned artwork in my life, even though I've seen a lot of good artists selling shit.
That said I TOTALLY HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DO A PIECE THAT IS INSIDE THE SKILLSET YOU SEEM TO HAVE BASED ON YOUR EXAMPLES! It is harder than you'd fucking think to find a decent artist willing to draw you something for a pittance. I thought the tubes would be overrun with them, but I've been looking for like 2 months and emailed a bunch of people and not gotten responses. DON'T FAIL ME NOW! I am emailing you. :-D

I got your email and responded. I think I'm up to it. Thanks a bunch!
P.S. to everyone: Sorry for kinda sorta turning this into a pity party. I just get down sometimes and post when I'm feeling emotional. I know my art isn't crappy. It's just the economy, and the fact that I haven't established myself yet.

I'm definately broke, but if I ever need a pic & my friend can't help me, I'd spew out $25 for you, easily. It's a price that fits inside even my budget, & you're a trustworthy source/good artist. How often will I find that in my lifetime, anyway?

You contradict yourself right from the start, and I think you know it but don't want to admit it. Yes we have a primary purpose. That doesn't mean we all have to lock step behind the Prime Directive all the time, does it? Of course not. It's particularly ironic to bitch about somebody's promotion of their creative endeavors inside a creative outlet thread.

I didn't "bitch about" anything, I just noted that if I were trying to sell art, I'd do it on a place that's more about...art. I mean, even though we HAVE a creativity section, it's not one of our more active ones.
I think you're just reading too much into what I'm saying.
