Distind,
If possible, could you expose a simple web service which would allow third-parties to query the FSTDT database? Something simple like:
public Quote getQuoteById(int quoteID) public Quote[] getLatestQuotes(int maxCount) public Quote[] searchQuotes(string fundie, string board, string text, int maxCount) public Quote[] getRandomQuotes(int maxCount)
A service like this would help others extend FSTDT with custom functionality. For example, I wanted to write an FSTDT IRC bot with some basic functionality for updating the chatroom with latest quotes -- I can do it with screen scraping, but a web service just makes more sense.

I'm a tad iffy on it due to the sheer number of hack attempts, I'd rather not open the database up for a direct beating.
Given I'm considering a severe overhaul to the site to take advantage of .net caching just to take a few more steps in that direction if I was to do this I'd be doing it in a very limited fashion.
Now, I wouldn't miss a beat in doing a set of random quotes(and or random quote) as that I can Cache for 15 minutes or so and just refresh.

Additionally, such a bot will not be permitted in the chat. Well, not yet anyway. I have some long-term plans for the chat that can't be implemented yet, and I don't want to muck about with bots until then.
