Of Bogans, Exams and SSRI Discontinuation

Hey, I'm doing what they did to Lethal Weapon, milking the series

Anyway I completed all my exams this week, the only real one was Biology, Legal and Geography were just practice so they dont effect my score. And the GAT.....the unholy...evil GAT. The three hour hell of vague questions and 2 essays. One the second essay we were to talk about material possessions. I'm not sure how, but I managed to turn that into a crazed conspiracy theory. My sister even talked about Angelina Jolie's rainbow family for a paragraph.

Anyway about the latest bogan exploits. This one did not happen at school but at the liqour store in the shopping center a few days ago
I was walking past with lesbian friend when I saw a guy I knew from up the street, lets call him Pete. Anyway, Pete was trying to buy a six pack of Victorian Bitter beer.

Now this guy is 21 years old, he has a drivers lisence showing that he is 18, therefore legally allowed to buy beer. He also looked his age. But the cashier didnt think so

Cashier : Okay....thats 12.95, may I see your ID please
Pete : Why?
Cashier : So that I can verify your 18.
Pete : Im 21, dont I look it?
Cashier : You do, but I'm just making sure.
Pete : I dont have to show you my ID, I look 21 *starting to get annoyed*
Cashier : I don't want to get fired by selling alcohol to a minor...
Pete : Thats not the fucking point...I look 21 so I shouldnt have to show you! *pissed off*
Cashier : Please just calm down and show me your ID.
Pete : No, its the fucking principle, I look 21, I am 21. So you sell me the beer *bangs his fist on the counter*
Cashier : Crap...Security!

Then security came and restrained him. Needless to say he didnt get his beer.
I talked to him this morning and asked what happened. He told me that he did have is ID on him, it was just the principle. He also was not charged, just let off with a warning.

I find people who base their opinions on principle amusing...

Oh and as some people on here are aware that I take Sertraline, an antidepressent in the SSRI class. Last friday I ran out of them and mum had to make an appointment. Sadly mom kept on forgetting and now the withdrawal symptoms are coming up. Headache, minor nausea, and severe irritability. Im yelling at everything, and the tiniest little thing pisses me off. Luckily I have an appoint tomorrow after school. But its going to be a hell of a lot worse tomorrow.

My understanding is that if the person serving someone doesn't think they look over 25, they have to ask. They often have signs saying that.

I'd have thought a bogan would do anything for beer.

This, really. I was taking Sertraline for a while, and it didn't do crap, but I still felt the negative side-effects and withdrawal symptoms. It sucked, needless to say.

Good luck with everything, though, and I hope you have a better time with your meds than I have.

I wrote my post before you added the SSRI bit, which is why I didn't comment on it.

I assume the doctor's appointment went well and your neurotransmitters are happy again.

Plenty of places have an "ID 25" program, where if you look under 25 you get asked for ID.

Pete should have considered that whether a person looks 21 or not is a subjective judgment, and while he thinks he looks 21, it is possible that the cashier does not think the same thing. Then he would have avoided being an asshole.

The involuntary withdrawal has to be a bummer. In the morning I take 150 mg of Wellbutrin and 20 of Lexapro. In the afternoon I take another 150 of Wellbutrin. If I somehow neglect to take that afternoon dose I find everything -- no matter how trivial -- extremely irritating. "How am I? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Cashier: Oh no! This job isn't worth hurting someone's feelings for!

Personally, I would have taken pleasure in it. I'd probably say something like "Come back when you have an ID, kid." But at least he has good taste in beer - VB is awesome.
