Because I'm a nerd of the highest order, I've decided to take a stab at developing applications for the BlackBerry and iPhone smartphones. Only problem is that I lack the inspiration to come up with original ideas. I'm not really "phone saavy", so I don't use my phone to play games, send text messages, check email, take pictures, or anything like that. I'm not really sure what's in demand, or what people really want their phones to do. Feel free to pitch some software ideas if there's some killer app you'd really like to have on your BlackBerry or iPhone. Here are some of my ideas: * Hot-or-Not clone * Sports score and historical data * Calculator for car/engine specs (torque ratios, top speed, etc) * Pic of the day (should support multiple categories like cat pictures, sexy women, weird pics, etc) * Take/Create quizzes Any other ideas are welcome

I could sure use a program like that Mistermuncher, especially one that can also help get my vocal cords back in tune so I could sing once again.

Can't help. I don't even have a basic cell phone. People say they're great for "staying in touch." I have to explain that I go to some effort to be out of touch.

Chromatic Tuner/Chord Dictionary. There are apps for the Chird Dictionary, at least. Planet Waves has one. I just don't remember what it's called.

Two things I've thought it would be nice to have for my iPhone - Something that allows me to log my financial transactions and sync them with Quicken on my Mac. There's plenty of finance loggers, but nothing to Quicken
- The PlayStation 3 controllers use Bluetooth, the iPhone uses Bluetooth. How about an app that would allow me to turn my iPhone into a PS3 remote? I doubt you could use it for playing games, but you could use it to, say, control the DVD player.

I don't use my cell as anything but a phone/address book either. But I'm thinking it would be nice to have that whole "line up the picture" frame like some digital cameras have. After all, it is a cameraphone.

Speaking from some experience in attempting to do anything with sony products, odds are they have some annoying protection scheme which is technically illegal to break. My suspicion was that the PS3 protocols were probably a closed spec.

The PS3 Blu-ray remote works with EventGhost and the SIXAXIS/DualShock 3 is supported by GlovePIE, so it's a plausible idea.
