... Does anyone know why RR's troll smiley is a mettaur? Apropos of nothing, I know, I just hadn't seen it until a minute ago.

Greetings to our Christian friends and fundies alike. To the fundies. You really have us wrong. We are a far more diverse group than you might think, for just religious beliefs, while we are mostly made up of atheists and agnostics, there is a fair share of pagans, Wiccans, Christians and, hell, if I remember correctly, even a Buddhist or two.
In other words, we're a rather tolerant bunch. Of course, you fundies wouldn't realize that because, despite making fun of racists, sexists, homophobes and people who claim their religion is right and anyone else is wrong 100% of the time, we're all atheist monsters who hate anything that doesn't fit our liberal gay agenda.

Really, I stuck it out there for as long as I could, even (somehow) getting several bans overturned for me to form the opinion I do now. Even still, I acknowledge that I wasn't as unbiased as I should have been, & I wasn't able to speak to many of the less rabid posters. So for dumbshit Fundies to come here, hide out, & make ~10 posts, then go back & act like they're divulging some great knowledge gained after being thrown to the lions, quite frankly, it's just stupid. And for the people who lap it up, I should note that you're going to get a VERY different view if you look at shit & make assumptions about it, rather than actually come in & talk with us for a period of time.

Oh please, it's easier for them to quote mine so they can draw the conclusions about the already established opinions. When was the last time a raptard went through threads and read everything before expressing opinion? More often they skim through a thread, cherry pick quotes that restate and enforce their already pre determined opinion and use them again and again to somehow show they're right. When you show them the whole quote it's either ignored, the thread dies, or they keep shouting and trying to twist that one quote mine into a mix of what they want it to say and what was said...or, on RR, ban the poster of the full quote, delete all their posts, and if need be, wipe the thread. I've worked for bosses like that, they can NEVER be wrong and will do anything in their power to cover over any dissent or facts that say otherwise

1sunchild, welcome aboard. I hope you are around for a while and I sincerely hope that you'll add some richness to this mosaic of religious discussion.

if I remember correctly, even a Buddhist or two. Yeah, couple of us running around here. I can't speak for any others, but I was actually...lets call it exposed (because that amuses me) to the fundie way of life and belief system. Not a fan, and apparently I am an aberration since I have been taught the "good news" and find it to be rubbish designed to squeeze money from people who generally can't afford to give it.

I didn't think there was actually anyone there who would use that incomplete Darwin quote to "prove" that Darwin "didn't believe" in evolution. And, of course, the entire quote was promptly ignored...come to think of it, it wasn't long after that that Vene was banned, was it? Not that that really means anything. They were looking for a good excuse to ban Vene from the start. The "reason" could be anything from dismissing Jesus to being "rude" to having an "agenda." -_-'

Have you ever noticed how people use the "I'm praying for you" line as a gigantic middle finger? The Raptards are quite good at it:
And to the beautiful people at Rapture Ready: I don't spew venom at God any more than I spew venom at Santa Clause. I don't believe in God. I spew venom at morons.

Where did you get this quote, anyway?
Someone's obviously never seen a picture of me.
Oxenschite.
I'm not sure whether or not this is a "fuck you," actually....
Like DevilsChaplain said: I don't spew venom at God. I spew venom at morons.
I don't.
Until you've died without belief in Jay-sus, of course. Then it's off to the flaming torture pit for you.
You feel unloved & unfulfilled, or something?
Man's quest for God leads to emptiness & lack of knowledge, in my personal opinion.

Ahem... a love that fills me? Oh my... [/dirty-mind]
In a more serious light, quest for knowledge without god involved leads to emptiness? I'm not sure how computers somehow equate God, or how fractal based procedural systems produce or require God. I can be certain that C++ is something that isn't divulged in the Bible, nor are matrices or vectors, nor is there a guide on how one should texture or model in some gospel. I can also be certain that the processes required to manufacture the hardware needed to run all this software gimmickry also happens independently to whether a deity exists or not. And I'm sure all that is run on electricity, not Jesus.
My quest for knowledge has yielded many answers, some satisfactory, others not so much. Knowledge in itself comprises of many things, whether they are true or not, fictional or real, etc. Learning about various religions doesn't mean I need to believe in them, and learning about certain god concepts doesn't mean one of them has to be true by default. Knowledge on its own is agnostic and uncaring. That's why I seek it and continue to do so, in order to further enlighten and better understand the world. I don't need a deity in order to be happy with what I learn, nor do I need one to feel good about myself and my life.

.....unless of course you don't listen to him and then he will let you burn in hell......MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!
......or you mean like he forsaked Jesus while he was on the cross? "Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"
