Damned if I remember how to forward an avatar from an avatar site to this one. (Damned if I remember breakfast, for that matter, it was twelve hours ago.)
Helps?
"Run Spot, Run" style would be appreciated.

"Run Spot, Run" style would be appreciated. How's that? And for the record, no I don't have an easy way to do this, I just happened to guess a quick method to grab OV's avatar and created a folder to host it on.

See old avatar. See old avatar on old FSTDT forum. See oldviking save old oldviking avatar to his hard drive. Save oldviking, save! See oldviking upload old oldviking avatar to web-based image hosting service.
Paradox is helping! Paradox suggests that oldviking use photobucket. Photobucket is good. Look! Oldviking is clicking on the profile button at the top of the page! Look look! Oldviking is clicking on the Modify Profile link on oldviking's profile page! Click oldviking, click!
See oldviking scroll down to where it says Avatar URL. Look! Oldviking is copying the url of his avatar from the image hosting site and pasting it in the field below where it says Avatar URL! Look again! Look look! Now oldviking is scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking on the save profile button! Hurray! Now oldviking has his old avatar back! Hip hip hurray!
Let's bake a cake!

Looks like you missed a step. On this board you need to specify your avatar's dimensions unless it 65x65. (This is in the profile screen, just below where you enter the avatar URL.) Old Viking's avatar should be 96x96.
