There's a difference between living that way because you've made the decision to live that way, and living that way because you've been brainwashed your entire life to think a certain way. If somebody makes that conscious choice, knowing that other options exist, then I respect their right to make that decision. But if a girl is force-fed the same sexist, women-are-servants-to-men rhetoric their entire lives and live that life as a result of it, then I can't really call that a 'choice' because they had no idea that other options for life in general existed. This is how I was shown things too. I had to unlearn a lot of stuff or risk being stuck forever as a racist, sexist fundie.

Sanya, in the future, if you wish to start a thread, please begin the conversation yourself. What you have done here is essentially say "Here's a topic, now I want you guys to talk about it." Contribute your ideas with the OP, please. Sorry about that. I tend to do it a lot, usually because I'm not sure how to start it myself. I can see how that's annoying and not conducive to conversation, so I'll stop.

Funny how these women with writing careers who spend all their time on the talk circuit are telling other women to get back in the kitchen. Without the aid of the feminist movement, Sarah Palin would never have been able to run for power in order to deny the next generation it's benefit.

Hey, she was just trying to help the feminist movement by giving us something to continue to fight for. Yes...It all makes sense.

I seriously want to know what those "ungodly" or "homosexual" acts are. I mean, if a guy has anal sex with a woman, it's not a "homosexual act" by simple definition of the fact that it involves an opposite-gender coupling. And if she says anything against oral sex, I'm out the door and not looking back.
Seriously, all these 'wifely submission' things about the woman always having to have sex whenever the husband demands it piss me off because they're such a mutilation of the original Biblical texts. It's not that a woman has to roll over and spread her legs whenever her husband is horny because she has to 'submit', it's that the husband is supposed to love his wife sacrificially, and that includes putting her needs above his own, and sometimes, that means not getting to have vaginal sex or whatever if the wife is sick or pregnant or recovering from childbirth or maybe just not in the mood and can't get in the mood. The husband is not supposed to be a man-child who always gets his sexual wishes gratified immediately (not that that is a bad thing in and of itself). I think there's a healthy amount of give-and-take, which always seems to be lost in such discussions. It always comes down to a legalistic "You will do this for your husband or else", which is really unChristian.
And besides, according to the Bible, husbands and wives own each other's bodies, so technically, if you follow the 'wifely submission' line of thinking but just flip the gender roles, the woman could demand sex from her husband whenever she wanted it, as much as she wanted, in whatever fashion she wanted. I want ladies like Martha Peace to mention that.

The accompanying illustration is pretty good, too: Never like to Godwin a thread but am I the only one struck by just how much that resembles Nazi propaganda imagery?

I personally tease a couple of my friends by saying all anal sex is gay, but to really believe that is...Well, it's pretty ignorant.

I had this conversation in teh mid 80's as a high-schooler. The guy said, "YOu'd fuck a chick in the ass!?!" When I said, hell yes I would, he said, "Isn't that... you know... kind of "gay"?" I said, "So you wouldn't do that?" HE said, "Naw, that's what "fags" do." I said, "I guess you wouldn't let a woman use anything but her vagina on you then... no BJ's no handjobs... after all, tahts what "fags" do..." But his excuse was, he was in SEVENTH grade!

I know a couple of my friends have anal sex with their SOs, so I like to mess with them. I like to mess with my friends in general, but when something like that, it's really fun. But seriously, it's totally ridiculous. Though personally I think anal sex is nasty, that has absolutely nothing to do with it being a "gay" act.
