So, we can find hundreds of examples of the fundie line that gays are trying to turn our children gay, erode the idea of morality, destroy western civilizations, etc. Has anyone ever seen a fundie deliniate when a particular individual stops being a poor victim of evildoers trying to turn them gay, and become one of the evildoers? I always wonder at this every time I read the whole "They're preying on our poor innocent children!" thing. I imagine the justification or the answer would be at least equally hilarious and horrifying.

Go find some 12 year old girl and turn her into a lesbian lonelocust. Not before I turn her into a cum-loving bukkake slut first. On topic, it's their lens they're seeing the LGBT from; they still cannot accept that the gay community has no agenda other than equality, because THEY'RE the ones who have the agenda, to recruit, conquer and eliminate the "enemy" for Christ. Naturally they think liberals have a similar yet opposite agenda and they will fight it even if little evidence of it exists.

I blame him for about half the problems in Christianity today. With all the multitude of problems that brought down Rome, all I ever seem to hear from Christians/conservatives (and even from some liberals!) is that Rome fell because of sexual immorality. Some go so far as to say that sexual immorality is the reason behind EVERY great civilization's collapse. I've yet to see any actual evidence for this.

What fundies term "Sexual immorality" (homosexuality, brutality and paedophilia) have been around as long as Rome was around. After all they didn't think of it much. What brought them down may be a combination of a lot of things, but religion wasn't one of the more significant ones. After all, by 476 Rome was in a deep depression, fighting wars on all sides, and without a strong leader. A million other minor factors, like treason and internal strife, made the fall of Rome so much easier to the plundering (christian) barbarians.

I've never been to bed with him, and I never knew the girl/woman in question. Can you keep a secret? The man currently fills a seat in the Norwegian government. [/end celebrity gossip]

Some go so far as to say that sexual immorality is the reason behind EVERY great civilization's collapse. I've yet to see any actual evidence for this. Yeah, that's a common anti-gay talking point. Even though there's of course no evidence for it, and no indication of increased homosexuality at the end in comparison to the beginning of Roman and Greek civilizations. And of course the most fun rebuttal is that same-sex marriage was outlawed in the Rome in 342 CE. The beginning of the roman civilization is considered to be around 750 BC. The "fall of Roman civilization" is usually placed at the end of the last Western Empire's emperor's reign (the end of having an emperor who actually ruled Rome; Byzantium aka the Eastern Empire continued for a while longer). So... 1100 years without making gay marriage illegal. 130 with gay marriage illegal, and then boom! The fall! And really the decline was considered to have been going on for a while at that point. I don't think there's any causation whatsoever between the banning of same-sex marriage and the decline/fall, but it highlights the complete and utter absurdity and disregard for history that the despicable claimers that the rise of homosexuality caused the decline of Roman civilization. It is additionally amusing because there probably were very few actual same-sex marriages happening in the Roman Empire. Marriage was for the most part a political or arranged matter. While there might have been tolerance (at least amongst the educated and aristocratic) of pre- and extra-marital homosexual activity, the majority non-romantic nature of marriage meant that most people were marrying the opposite sex and having children, whatever else they were doing and accepted as doing. The banning of same-sex marriage was pretty much a declaration of homophobia and not stopping much in the way of actual same-sex unions, as there probably weren't that many happening to be banned.

The OP is a good question, Lonelocust. It's questions like those that make me wish I was still on RR to ask them.

I have a stealth account with an uber-fundie handle and a fake bio. I've made just enough posts to not be called a hidden troll. I don't know if I can sneak asking that one in there without sounding like I'm attacking their beliefs about homosexuals - their stupid, hateful, logically inconsistent beliefs. I might be able to. And of course, I really just wanted an account to get context on super-crazy mainpage comments, but I've sort of grown tired of directly reading them.
