I was born in Florida as well. Anybody here NOT born in Florida? *raises hand*Pennsylvania happens to be where I made my entrance onto this messed-up mudball called Earth. Unfortunately, I no longer live anywhere near there. To keep this on-topic, it doesn't even remotely surprise me that the original and still quintessential RSTDTers, Stormfront, would've been the first ones to start stirring this particular crock of shit. Actually, it's even worse than all the whining the Democrats did 8 years ago; after all, their side simply lost a controversially close election. The "birthers" are whining that their man not only lost, but lost to a black man. Even if it could be incontrovertibly proven that Obama's ancestors were brought to this continent on a slave ship four centuries ago, and that their descendents have lived in the American Colonies (later States) ever since, they'd probably still have pulled from their asses some lame excuse to question President Obama's right to occupy the Executive Mansion.

They were not "proven" to be forgeries, but could not be verified independently. This is different. Rather jumped the gun and presented them without verification. They were not shown to be forgeries, rather they were unverified documents. There is a difference. At any rate, they are irrelevant to the current discussion. No they were not conclusively proven to be forgeries. Nor have they been verified. However the idea that they were proven forgeries is now widespread. However, the documents really only confirmed what other reporters like those at the Boston Globe had already discovered. The secretary who should have typed them up but didn't (which is used as proof they are forgeries) said the papers repeated the general in question's thoughts at the time. In short, if a forgery, they were a forgery that contained true information. But in being forged they immediatly cast a cloud over any other report about Shrub's military (ahem) service. But as Jonathon said, this is also a completely separate issue from Obama's birth certificate, which from looking at it does not vary overly much in format from my own in Missosuri.
