Wow... that's a bit extreme.
The dad was urged to make his car keys inaccessible to children.

Wow, it's sad that the kid can drive better than most people in the state of New Jersey

That has to be the single most awesome act ever done by a pre-pubescent kid ever, and I'm even including myself in that statement.

I can understand why the kid would do this... Utah means probably Mormon. Church is an every Sunday thing, no exceptions. Desperation can make a kid do crazy things.

Heck, I'd steal the car just to get away from Utah, let alone a church in Utah! (I kid, I kid)
And yeah, it may be unacceptable for a 7 year old to steal a car, but it is also really funny.

I once ran away to get out of going to church. And by running away, I mean I hid in the bushes until my grandma was sure I was kidnapped.

I just used to say I didn't feel well enough to go to church.
My Mom even used to call it "working up a Sunday sick".

As funny as it is that is really bad parenting.
And I had thought he'd stolen the car after they went to church and drove home but he just stole his parents keys and left the house for a joy ride.
CYO baseball has games on Sunday morning. Got to play baseball for Jesus of course AND get out of church.
