OK, I finally clicked on the thread called Fish Surgery because I couldn't stay out of it, and I'm stuck on the OP's comment as well: FISH SURGERY!? It was kind of neat how the fish had a little water IV or whatever you want to call it in its mouth. I guess if you want to spend big money on a fish, it becomes "worth it" to keep it alive with surgeries? I can also see the fish equivalent of Doctors Without Borders right now: Surgeons for Sturgeons.

Or maybe the fish is just a beloved pet that someone doesn't want to lose.

I can see that, too, but for me it's a lot harder to see loving a fish in the same way one would a dog or a cat, because of the level of interaction possible between people and fish.

If I wanted to spend THAT much money on a pet, I'd just get a shitload of Siberian cats and officially become "that crazy cat lady".

That or a few Siberian huskies. They're the only kind of dog I can stand.

Build my home for wayward pitbulls. That should keep family from ever visiting again.
