I don't watch too many popular teevee shows. I'm kind of a dork for the History Channel and Discovery Channel. I admit, though, sometimes I catch reruns of trashy shows. And yes, Family Guy IS indeed the shit.

I love Lie to Me (had a crush on Tim Roth since Pulp Fiction... I even watched Medium for a while just because he was in it), Bones, House, Chuck, and I'm gonna throw in The Mentalist. Similar to Lie to Me, but it's about a guy who is a natural at reading body language and other clues and manipulating people to get the truth out of them without them having to tell him... he made a fortune as a fake psychic, and now consults for the police. This scrumptious Aussie actor plays the lead. I love it so far.
I don't have TV in my house. I watch all the shows online, especially on surfthechannel. Besides the shows on major networks, I also keep up with Big Love and the United States of Tara.

First and foremost, I think that 'Lie to Me's' producers have too much blood on their hands from 24.
It seems that Fox can think of innumerable ways of proving their guilt and putting people in jail without the use of minor things like evidence. I'd imagine that judges, lawyers and barristers would even find this blatant attack on the legal system rather insulting. It's interesting that both of Fox's methods of assesing guilt (torture, voodoo) not only are not applicable in court, were they somehow to get into court and presented before a jury, they would actually free the defendent, as the case would be called a mistrial because the jury might have been prejudiced by non-evidence.

Now that The L Word is ending this Sunday, I think I might check it out.

My viewing window is midnight to 2 AM. History Channel, Discovery, Forensic Files (case solved in 22 minutes!), Seinfeld re-runs and the occasional movie with no redeeming social value. Haven't watched TV news or network programs in ten years or more.

Lie to Me is an alright show, but it's a lot like House and CSI type stuff - it's a bit formulaic.
You can set your watch to the employment of various plot devices.

"My Name is Earl" is freaking hilarious. I watch it online at work (all episodes are found at http://www.watchsitcom.com). It's a free site, but limits you to 72 minutes at a go, with a 54 minute break between watching. You can PAY, of course, but why pay when it's free?

Other free tv sites: www.hulu.com and www.surfthechannel.com Surfthechannel organizes the shows on an easy-to-use English site, then when you click on a particular episode it sends you to one of various sites like Megavideo and Tudou and Vureel that actually host the episodes, and all you have to do is click "play." Once in a while there are Japanese subtitles or whatever, but that's never hindered my enjoyment. Hulu is a little more legit-looking, but has ads and a less expansive selection of full episodes. As far as I know it doesn't have any premium channel series like Sopranos or Big Love or The L Word or United States of Tara. Between these two sites I can find 99% of any TV show I've ever wanted to watch, and almost always the morning after the episode premiered on TV.

My wife and I watch Lie To Me, but I don't like it as much as I do The Mentalist. The Mentalist has a bit of humor in it that makes the show more interesting. We also watch House, Eleventh Hour, Criminal Minds, and the CSI franchise, although the original is still the best of the three.
As for comedies, Family Guy is great and Earl is hicklarious as well. But we really enjoy The Big Bang Theory.
I'm also a big fan of the History, Science, and associated networks.

I watch precisely one show that's still on TV, and that's House. I used to count Heroes until it completed the dive into shittacular. Season one is near-perfect as a TV show, WTF happened? Outside of those, I just get shows on DVD.
EDIT: I will occasionally catch something on the History Channel, and I'll watch Law and Order and the spinoffs if I'm really bored. Honestly though, the TV is on in my room about 2 hours a week. Except for DVDs. I've run through 2 seasons of a show in a week (Veronica Mars FTW).
