I've showered with way too many guys in Basic Training. That being said I wouldn't mind public nudity as an option assuming it'd be near a 50/50 ratio but just like what I've heard of nude beaches it's all guys and never any girls. Also the problem of keeping the underage out it is raised. Depends on the beach, though more guys is definitely the norm. I'm not sure what you mean about keeping the underage out though. Children usually have no problem with nudity. Teens might be embarrassed, but I doubt it would chase them away from the entire beach/park/gas station. My understanding is that there is twofold issue with underage nudity. One is what you addressed. The other one would be the notion that adults observing underaged ppl nude is somehow problematic. For example it could be equated with inviting/promoting paedophilia. Of course that argument would be on par with adult nudity inviting/promoting rape. It's a unfounded argument in both cases. Yet in another thread recently the argument that humans have the instinct to protect the offspringwas presented so there will be much stronger feelings in that case.

I'd say I tend to share the prevailing view here. If someone really wants to walk around nude in public, tackle in full view and whatnot, I couldn't really care less (or in the case of attractive women, I'd actually encourage it). I mean it's not as though I'm going to see anything new. As for me though I don't particularly like to be naked and I would downright hate to be nude in public, so I'll opt to keep my clothes on.

Online I am far more careful with my identity. The thought police are always watching, the only way to stay one step ahead is to minimise the available information I see... but if you were walking around naked, you could be caught on camera doing something embarrassing or funny and then one might easily be able to see all your "available information" online. Jus' sayin'. Yes but if there is nothing to connect some dude running round nude to his online persona, I is safe

I understand what you are trying to say, but that's still retarded.

It is the nature of the internet that is problematic. If you see a naked man in the street, you have no information about him save his physical characteristics. On the net 'tis the other way round. You can learn far more about a person's life and whereabouts just by spending a few moments online with them. And therein lies the danger

For example it could be equated with inviting/promoting paedophilia. If anything it probably has the opposite effect. Kind of like how women's ankles were a big deal back when they were normally kept covered. Now nobody pays any particular attention. Child nudity has gotten to be so taboo that it seems many people can't look at any picture of a naked child without seeing it as porn. No doubt. It's a just shame that this instinct so often gets misdirected at unrealistic dangers. I've never heard of any kids getting 'napped or assaulted at a nude beach. I'm sure the media would be all over it if that really happened.

Child nudity has gotten to be so taboo that it seems many people can't look at any picture of a naked child without seeing it as porn. You know, this is slightly an aside, but I think we (as a culture) are freakin' morons. We do the whole "kiddie porn" scare stuff for the kind of harmless naked pictures that a lot of us had taken (Like many people, there are nude pics of me being bathed when I was an infant), and then we sexualise kids with their clothes on. If, and I repeat if, child nudity is tantamount to porn and encourages pedophiles, then what can we say about the way we dress up kids for child beauty pageants? Howabout kids gyrating to "Genie in a bottle" (Gotta rub me the right way) or "This Love" (Sinking my fingertips into every inch of you)? Kids running around in thongs? I say "if," Because I don't buy it, but isn't it kind of...Strange that we're only concerned about nudity?

Especially since provocative clothing is more titillating than full out nudity.

This. If you (general) stopped making such a big deal out of, say, visible nipples or ass cheeks, then they'll stop causing so much of a stink. It's only when things are forbidden or a lot of noise is made about them that they become the objects of illicit desire.
A (guy!) friend in high school put it very well. He said, basically, that men like boobs so much because boobs are forbidden. If women all of a sudden started going topless, but wearing mittens all the time to cover their hands, then boobs wouldn't mean shit and there would be a thriving 'hand porn' industry. I'm sure it's not true for everybody, but it makes a lot of sense.
I think people, Americans in particular, are big sissies about nudity. Child nudity, adult nudity, seniors nudity (OH GOD, THE IMAGES!), it doesn't matter. We all, myself included, need to get over ourselves.

I'd like to hear more about this "hand porn" idea.

To be honest, I didn't make further inquiries into the concept of 'hand porn'---just use your imagination! ^_~
