OK, as being German I think I should comment on this, although I didn't notice this silly idea until I read it a few days ago on rotten.com.
1.) I've never heard of the black/chicken thing before I looked it up on ED. Considering that I am more interested in the USA than most of my peers, I postulate that it isn't really known outside the US.
2.) I agree, they are just trying to profit from the name. For example, one of the most sold Vodka Brands in Germany is named after Gorbatschow.
3.) Obama, as well as some other foreign politicians (like the aforementioned Gorbatschow) are quite popular in Germany. In fact Obama is seen quite as an messianic figure by many people here, because many Germans extremely "disliked" Bush as the president of the US.
4.) I ask you to apologize my possible grammar and syntax errors. Somehow I'm quite good in reading English (Most, if not all scientific papers I have to read for studying food chemistry are written in English), but my writing skills are serious lacking.
In conclusion: Marketing gone wrong. Just my 2c.

Your grammar and syntax are both fairly good, actually. Better than most high school graduates, at least. Though that isn't saying much, I'll admit. If nothing else, you got your point across without giving me a headache. (Honestly, it's my experience that the people who are English as a second/third/fourth/etc. language have better grammar than most native speakers)

It took me a second to realise that Gorbatschow is Gorbachev, but that's not something you should worry about.

Everything tastes great with curry. Take something simple as boiled rice, curry sauce and deep fried battered octopus rings... yummy and quick to make!

It took me a second to realise that Gorbatschow is Gorbachev, but that's not something you should worry about. I guess it depends on how you see it but phonetically, Gorbatschow is, when pronounced in German, closer to the Russian pronunciation than Gorbachev in English is. Of course, there is only one *correct* pronunciation and it would be Gorbie's own! *sheepish grin* (Russian: Михаи́л Серге́евич Горбачёв?·i, Russian pronunciation: [mʲɪxɐˈil sʲɪrˈgʲeɪvʲɪtɕ gərbɐˈtɕof];

I'm sure some of the more linguistically able FSTDT'ers will swoop in to correcte me here, but I would have thought you should have said forgive instead of apologise. Frankly it doesn't impede understanding in any way so its not really worth commenting on, its just so brilliantly ironic that the only mistake you made was whilst apologising for any mistakes you made.
