"condoms not the answer in AIDS fight"
No, they aren't. They are a measure to try and slow the spread of AIDS
"Rubbers increase the problem of AIDS?" Of course they do. those evil atheist gays are lacing condoms in an AIDS vat and selling them to good, monogamous christian folk

Abstinence is something that can decrease the spread of AIDs but the Pope is living in a fantasy world if he thinks that its the only answer because:
A) Over the past few decades (if not for much, much longer) all sensible people have come to realize that people, as a whole, are not abstinent.
B) It doesn't address the dynamics of one partner having AIDs (through adultery or past sexual experiences) in a married or committed couple.
C) It doesn't address that there is still a disparity in social power between the genders, in many places in Africa a woman still doesn't have enough power to say "no" to her boyfriend or husband or to demand that he wear protection.
But once again, how can people take advice from an elderly ex-Nazi youth who has never gotten laid before and has always only kept the company of other men?

Okay now that I'm done with my catholic impression this is a stupid idea.

I can see where he's coming from. After all, decades spent buried to the balls in nuns, altar-boys and the Vatican's hidden brood of retarded mutant freak-children who were the result of the Church's abortive attempts to genetically engineer the Antichrist never gave him AIDS, and he never wore a condom once*, the dress-wearing old horror.
*Although, he did a lot of it wearing fishing waders for personal reasons, which are kinda like condoms for your legs.

Unfortunately, it's a fantasy world populated with a lot of people with a "my way or the highway" attitude. Just to add... A) Not only that, but we've started to realise that asking teens not to have sex is only slightly more effective than asking your pets not to have sex. Not only that, even those that take abstinence pledges just try and get around it. What were the figures? Twice the oral and five times the anal sex? Neither of which is safe on its own, and considering how much worse anal sex is for the spread of AIDS, they're probably making the problem worse. And that's not even in Africa. B) Not to mention the medical problems in Africa. It's easy to get infected if you go to the wrong hospital. Then you can spread it to your partner. But then again, AIDS is only a sexual disease, right? C) But women are dirty and sinful and deserve to get it. This guy is Catholic, after all. I mean, not a knock on individual Catholics, but the dogma and leadership is some of the most misogynistic I've encountered. I know there's worse, but the sheer numbers who silently consent to this is honestly, astounding. Also, I really can't believe anyone could think that condoms worsen the problem.

Once the pope can show me a gene that let religious abstinence override the genetic sexual reproduction machinery our bodies are, we can talk.
People will fuck whether the pope likes it or not, using rubber will reduce the risk of getting any STD, but this ass clown of a religious idiot, is living in his own little narrow fantasy world and anyone taking this clown seriously, is telling me they are just as stupid as the pope.
If there are any group of people I truly hate, it is the snug stupid ignorant ass clowns that call themselves religious. Someone should blow the Vatican to smithereens. Religion is the biggest clamp around the foot of progress. It's what keeps the world in a death grip of ignorance. Not that the protestantic evangelicals are any better than the catholic morons.

But condoms dont work in AIDS prevention - Just like giving bread to the hungry people won't help with the hunger issue! [/annoyed and tired sarcasm]
I think the problem here is the birth control issue, which still is big no no in the Catholic church. If they'd say that it is OK to use condoms to prevent HIV (and other STD's) from spreading they'd have to, sooner or later, say that it is OK to use them to prevent pregnancies. And this would lead to situation where people are *gasp* enjoying s-e-x and not necessarily with their spouses but with someone they are just dating! Oh the horror!

Well done Pope, I'm now gonna hold you exactly 1/3rd responsible for every AIDS death in Africa.
Seriously, its not what you'd call a harmless little rule for religious people, the Catholic church's anti-condom stance is fucking killing people!

This is why religions should never impose birth rules. All this talk about not wearing condoms and letting your seed fall into the belly of a whore instead of the ground? It was to shore up the numbers of the congregation...2000 YEARS AGO!
Ironbite-why this policy is still in effect just shows how smart some people are.

Religion is so ridiculously, dangerously backwards and outdated that I really honestly wonder why people still hold to it so fast and follow it so sheep-like. If people held so closely to medical texts or technological developments from two thousand years ago as they do religion, at the expense of everything else, then we'd still be living in the freaking dark ages. The world is not the same place, and the rules are different. It's ridiculous.
At least the former Pope conceded that condoms were a good thing to use to staunch the spread of AIDS in Africa. You'd have to have your head so far up your ass you'd be nibbling on your own ribs to think they didn't work or were making the problem WORSE. What a lot of absolute fucking morons.

Isn't this a bit like saying the best way to cut down on traffic fatalities is to get rid of all seatbelts? Goddamn, this man is delusional.

Like I've said before, they want you to wait till you're married to spread the virus. Great job Pope Been-a-Dick.
