Poking around on Religious Tolerance, it came to my attention that the incidence of transwomen who want SRS could be as high as 1 in 500. (Their source for this statistic comes from a peer reviewed article that I can only read the abstract for.) This got me to thinking about how many transgendered I know have been and are on FSTDT (me of course being one of them), and being that we now have a poll feature I thought it would be interesting to see just how varied gender identity is here. For those curious as to what cisgender means, it's a way to describe those who are happy with the gender they were declared at birth, in contrast with transgender. Other definitions: TransmanTranswomanIntersexBigenderGenderqueerAndrogyneThird Gender[ETA] I should also note that I left it so you can change your vote at any time. If you're undecided or unsure, feel free to check the box you currently feel fits best (you don't have to if you're very unsure though), and feel free to change it after reading up a bit more on them and thinking about it.

Just to throw up a reply to my vote. I was born a male, genetic and otherwise, and am quite happy with it.

I'm somewhere between a cisgender man and a bigender and I like big ends too!

I was born male, but I've always thought that personality wise I'd make an awesome woman. But I'm happy either way and staying a man is frankly cheaper.

Male here...
Interestingly, I know of at least 3 people who lurked the main page who are Trans... all pre, and needing to stay anon irl.
Hell, the need to stay anon irl has made it very hard for them to let anyone know, except in places that are run specifically for Trans support/info.

Female here, but there's always been a 13-year old boy trapped in my body. He comes out when I play video games or buy joke vomit.

I'm a biological male and very happy as one. I let myself get "girly emotional" sometimes, but everyone is due that from time to time, and it's just a dumb stereotype anyway.

Male by form, but with an awful lot of female mixed in. Y'know, the kind of person who'd be jealous of Ranma and his ability to switch (nearly) at will.
Female gender-type, I think one person put it...
Let's just say male with a deep-seated fascination with all things girly, but can't do anything about said interests. =D

Born female, quite happy female, although according to the fundies I'm a transgender lesbian.
There's nothing wrong with being a female who hunts, fishes, and plays with cars!
Edit: Guess I should mention that I'm straight, I'm just a redneck girl who enjoys her redneck lifestyle.

Female born, female happy. The only advantage I can see to being male is peeing standing up. Also, more straight women than lesbians.

Very happily female. In fact, I'm the only woman I know who has NEVER once thought that I wish I'd been male, even in the throes of great monthly pain. Though I must agree with Katz on the number of available partners. That sucks. I hate being lonely because it seems like I'm the only decent girly lesbian in the state of Washington. Still don't wish I were a dude or liked dudes, though, just wish there were more nice girly lesbians! (No, I don't hate guys! I quite like them. A couple of my best friends are guys.)

I dunno... I've been told that I'm a transvestite... I'm a woman (born and raised that way) that dresses like a man... acts like a man... walks and talks like a man... but DAMN if I'm not as straight as an arrow and loving me some members of the male species. I'm just a big ol' tomboy who loves her jeans and tennies... and short, short hair.
