...This is weird. It's not even 10, and this show on Discovery can use the word "fuck" uncensored.
Can anyone explain how they can do that? It doesn't really bother me, I'm just confused....

Isn't that a pay TV channel? AFAIK they have considerably more relaxed censorship laws than free to air channels do.

Discovery didn't censor "fuck?" That's strange. And sgt snoodles is right, channels that you pay for don't have the same standards.

Cable isn't restricted like broadcast. They tend to self moderate. However, I've heard "nigger" on a lot of channels, even Nickelodeon (The Jeffersons and All in the Family).

But... swearing automatically means you're angry, so those folks are just portraying angry people. I mean, how else could you tell if they were really angry?

At risk of soundign completely looney...
It might have just slipped through accidentally.
The first time I watched the movie "Idiocracy" on Comedy Central, they censored the first time the sign for the restaurant "Buttfuckers" was shown, but the second shot wasn't.
*shrug*

What was the name of the show you were watching? I had never known Discovery or any of the Discovery franchise channels to us that word, but I don't watch them all the time.

I actually got the channel wrong, it was the Documentary Channel...didn't even know I got that. Don't know how deciding a factor it is, but it was definately not accidental. The word was used in several instances.
Indoctrinate U was the title of the show. U is meant to mean "you" and "university." >_> <_< It took me like an hour after I finished watching it to get that. Anyway...you could Wiki it, but basically, it was a documentary on alleged liberal biases on college campuses. But weirdly enough, it wasn't 2 hours of "they won't let me preach about Jesus!"
<_<
>_>
I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed.

I'm endlessly amused at how TV stations will chop the hell out of PG-13 movies and then give them TV-14 ratings. I've been facepalming at that for as long as I can remember.

I noticed that one too! I'm guessing it was a goof on CC's part. Something that confuses me more: I've noticed that on some shows words such as "ass" and "hell" are censored, yet others such as "bitch", "bastard", "damn" and "dick" are left in. I've also heard a few F-bombs (rarely though) slip through too. TV censorship is seriously screwed up. For example, Comedy Central will allow the word ass, but not asshole. So if Steven Colbert says asshole, they will leave the word ass alone and bleep out the word hole. Some stations allow damn, but not Goddamn, so they leave damn and bleep out God.

While I hate censorship, I do find the censorship of God very amusing.

At my uni for example about 1/4 - 1/3 off all the student-run clubs and societies are religious, so even the fundies can't claim that universities don't let people preach about Jesus (I even got several conversion attempts during orientation week, that was quite funny).

That has always made me laugh. I was watching Office Space on television the other day and they cut out about half the movie. It was rated TV-MA.
