About that no vulturing rule, I generally agree with it, but would like to ask for one exception and one exception only. When he finally kicks the bucket: Fred Phelps. Pretty please? Yeah, that one deserves a good vulturing.. Same with Dick Cheney. Dobson?

A clarification on some guidelines regarding users who post at another forum from FSTDT as other users (not directed at any one user, but in general). Keep what happens at the different forums separate. See, a problem with bringing in arguments from other forums is that, given the nature of it being a different forum, most members are completely separate from the other forum. As such most people are completely ignorant of the circumstances, conversations, and people involved. Without large amounts of copypasta and links people will be left baffled as the what the fuck people are talking about, and arguments are viewed as personal attacks as they seemingly come out of nowhere. Even if large amounts of copypasta (which can touch on spam territory) and links are provided it is still bringing in outside arguments to an area they really don't belong, and very often ends up being too much of a TL;DR mess. Public forums should be treated much like any other public establishment. Leave your problems at the door (or in this case, login screen). Problems from outside the forum should say outside the forum, and problems within a forum should stay contained there. To drag an argument from one place to another is aggressively hounding them and most definitely counted as assholish behaviour.

I can't believe it either. We're banned from pyramid schemes...

(snip) * If you post Not Safe For Work material, label it with NOT SAFE FOR WORK or NSFW. * Unless the thread has that warning in the title, you may only post NSFW links (with a warning), not embedded pictures. I haven't a clue what this means. Can you explain?

If it's not the NSFW section, label it NSFW.
And in light of the ToS, the second rule is kind of outdated. Don't post NSFW images, using the img tags, at all, even if it is the NSFW section. You may, however, link to NSFW images.

At the risk of incurring wrath (after all, I am posting something more than 30 days after the previous post, but it is a sticky - at least, that's my excuse), why the ban on necro-ing threads after 30 days? Seems a little....excessive.....6 months or a year I could understand....but of course there may be reasons I don't know about.

Because, generally, if something is 30 days dead it means anything interesting that can be said, has been said. Though new, relevant updates for more intelligent threads (news based, for example) or in the cases of "junk" type threads, like pic threads or "Thread Killer?" this is greatly relaxed.
Really, though, it ends up depending on the nature of the necro, as well. If it's purely a dumbshit thing on a thread buried several pages in, we'll get on your case. If it's not much past 30 days and you're posting something of some value, more lee-way will be given.
No real reason for the specific number of days, though. 30 is just a lot easier to calculate than six months.

I actually have a question about the Darnedest Things archives.
Why don't the seperate categories have ratings based on content relevance?
Racist screeds having racism ratings, and the like.
