Creative Outlets seems to be the right place for a thread where people can post their recipes.
I'm hoping to post quite a few in the near future. My wife went vegetarian about a month ago, so I'm having fun creating new dishes for her, and will post the tastiest results here. So in that spirit:
Ian's Spicy Lentil Stew (version one)
1 1/2 to 2 cups of dry yellow lentils (washed and drained) 1 28 oz can of stewed diced tomatoes (or whole coarsely chopped) 3 large carrots, sliced into large pieces 1 large onion, coarsely diced 1/4 cup of raisins 1/4 cup of halved dried apricots Pickled hot pimentos to taste, whole or chopped 1/8 cup pimento brine Garlic to taste (fresh and chopped, powder, dehydrated... whatever type you have that isn't salt) Cumin, pepper and your favourite hot sauce to taste (no salt is needed, the pimento brine has plenty)
Everything goes into the pot, then is brought to a low boil and left to cook until the lentils are tender. Serve hot or store it in the fridge and reheat the next day for best results.
This was made with what I had in the apartment, and nothing was measured so it's all approximate. The lentils can also be boiled for ten minutes ahead of time so they'll cook faster than the carrots if you like your vegetables very firm. Feel free to add anything you want to the recipe, but please let me know if any experiments turn out really well.

Huh... bizarre... I did a search for "recipes" and it didn't turn up, so I thought I'd start one. I guess our search feature isn't the greatest.
