I find it amazingly sad those kids he writes about will spend their whole lives believing they need to be persecuted for their faith and feeling like outcasts in the world. They are far too young to be setting themselves on a pointless life journey that has only pain and disappointment at the end. What a fucking waste of potential.

Maybe I'm too old to be anything but cynical, but I find the article hilarious. There's no hope for those kids. None whatsoever. And I really don't give a damn.

Some people do leave that shit behind. Sometimes it takes a few decades; sometimes you do like me and you fall in love with another girl right before you go on the tour of fundie colleges. But it's possible. I hope these kids realize pretty soon--at least before they have kids of their own--that there isn't some Big Buzzkiller in the Sky evaluating them every second. It kinda looked to me like at least a couple had their feet on that path by the end of that trip.
