Or get your partner to help you groom up at home, which is cheaper and much more fun than the salon anyway. ;D

As long as I can get the rest of my body done, I don't care.

They keep going back and forth between "bikini line" and "genitals." The tissue on your "bikini line" isn't the issue here, which is why "regular bikini waxes" would still be allowed. I know this is kind of a nitpick, but it always amuses me that we can't even talk about genitals when talking about genitals. Anyway, I do wonder how sanitary these places are if they lead to infection. On the other hand, irritating the tissue on or around your genitals can increase the odds of something foreign takingroot in the first place.

Aren't you meant to apply tea tree oil to waxed areas to prevent bacterial infections?

Is anybody besides me getting images in their head of back-alley Brazilian waxing businesses springing up? Women going out of state to obtain illicit pubic waxing? The cops busting illegal Brazilian waxing parlors in the back rooms of other businesses?
Maybe I just need more tea.
To be honest, you can get an infection from just about anything if you don't take care of a wound. Paper cut can get infected, scraped knees can get infected. People get infections and die all the time from piercings, even if they were done in clean conditions and nothing was done wrong. If you don't take care of it, it'll get infected--it happened to me with my sixth ear piercing, I got a staph infection and had to let the hole close. It wasn't the piercing place's fault, it was my fault for not taking care of it. It sounds pretty stupid all around if you ask me.

A couple of Vietnamese ladies in the back of a panel van (they're always Vietnamese ladies working at waxing places--I have no idea why), parked somewhere between two buildings behind a dumpster. A girl in a trenchcoat and dark sunglasses looks around, and ducks into the alley. The girl goes into the back of the van and the door closes behind her. Inside, the equipment is basic and sparse: body wax heating over a Sterno can, strips of an old t-shirt for waxing, and a complimentary dilapidated bedroom slipper to bite down on. The Vietnamese lady asks in hushed tones, "You have ten dollar?" and the girl just hands over the money. Then they get to work.
Yeah, I definitely need more tea...

Me? Twisted? Well, gosh-golly-gee, I hadn't intended that! I know. Imagine dirty old me, taking something as harmless as that, and turning it into something dirty.

I've heard of salon's reusing hot wax. In fact I had a friend who started at a salon and the first thing she was told was "go and remove the pubes from yesterday's wax". She left the same day she started.
I suppose it's possible the same thing could have happened in NJ. If when you're having your brazilian wax and there is some bleeding, which occurs quite often and then they reuse the wax, it's not surprising that an infection occurs.
Not saying that is what happened, just sayin' ... and squicking myself.
(and suddenly wondering if I should cancel my waxing appointment for tomorrow, because I'm freaked out)

No wonder people got sick.
