Someone altered the swear filter so that the name "U-T-A-H", when spelled out normally, gets replaced with some long-winded slam against the state.
This came up in the Entertainment forum, where I was trying to talk with another poster about a famous incident that took place with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle visited the state. The filter kicked in and rendered part of the post I made completely senseless, something that I find rather frustrating since it also edited my post accordingly.

It's actually been like that for quite awhile, have you not come across it before this?

Probably shouldn't have been trying to derail the thread then, Sky.

Probably shouldn't have been trying to derail the thread then, Sky. Actually, it was germane to the discussion. I asked if the new Sherlock Holmes movie was based on an existing story, as Doyle came to disavow "A Study In Scarlet," which was the original origin story for the franchise. Someone asked for details about it. I explained what took place, noting that it involved Doyle visiting the state in question.

And how exactly was launching into a discussion of Doyle's supposed views on Mormonism relevant to a discussion about "Study In Scarlet?" It's been literaly decades since I read that story and I don't really remember it. Is it about Mormonism? Does Mormonism feature in it? If it does, fine. If it doesn't, then it was a derail.

Er...yes, it does. The heart of the plot is decided in U tah and features several Mormons, most of whom are villains. Doyle's views of Mormonism are completely relevant to a textual analysis of A Study in Scarlet. EDIT: Nap.: i see what you did thar, and i did it too EDIT: I have to admit, I lol'd.

Many of the villains in the work were Mormon, and as part of the plot Holmes & co. pay a visit to Utah. So yes, a discussion of the matter is every bit relevant. And just in case you missed it in that thread, here's the article I posted over there.

Fair enough. As I said, last time I read it was before you were born.

UTAH is spelled that way to make it as easy as possible for residents. The state motto is "Utah. Wait, we can explain."

Well I have to admit, this one should be easy to guess.
Who is the disgruntled Utah resident with moderator rights?

I have never even been to Utah. Thought about it once, then I realized I had a choice. So I went to Colorado instead.

I have never even been to The Four-Letter State (AKA Utah). Thought about it once, then I realized I had a choice. So I went to Colorado instead. I can see the state motto war escalate: Utah at least it isn't a square.
