I'm astonished to say the least. Of course there are several who see it the "evil weed", but the overwhelming majority agree it's a states rights issue (who cares if California is legalizing? We don't live there.) and a couple are actually saying decriminalization for medicinal use is a good thing... wow www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=82435

Well RR have always been pro-devolution, it's hardly a suprise to see them calling for states-right to legislate here.
And frankly, possible links between body dysmorphia and body=temple aside, the bible doesn't realyl say thou shalt hate druggies.

I've long looked at it this way.
It's not the marijuana that's the problem. It's the whiny little chronics who repeat the constant mantra "It's no worse than alcohol" and shit out their outdated storehouse of "facts" from potissocool.com.
You're right, morons! It IS no worse than alcohol! It's also no better, and we cant manage the alcoholics we have let alone losers like you!
And if you'd STFU about it and get a fucking job, I wouldn't be in favor of keeping it banned.
There are those who can keep their habit sane, you're not the ones I'm bitching at

I mean I can understand why peopel start drimnking alcohol or taking drugs, but as far as I can see there really aren't many benefits of smoking. WHo's idea was it to put a load of burning plants in their mouth in the first place anyway?

WHo's idea was it to put a load of burning plants in their mouth in the first place anyway? An even better question; why did anyone listen to him?

I'll give them credit, they're being ideologically consistent. An encouraging sign.

My understanding is tobacco started out as a holy drug or something with some native tribes, and the way they originally smoked it wasn't nearly as bad as the way we do now. Still not the brightest idea, but not nearly as bad.
Weed, when done properly and grown appropriately, also isn't as bad as the way it's done most of the time nowadays. The main problem is we as a culture like to put additives in EVERYTHING, which is very rarely a good thing.
Also, I am having serious WTF at people in RR saying weed is good...

I've said it before but I don't hate them as people. Some of them, a very very few of them, on other issues, have decent stances I'm sure. It's just on the issue of religion that they are incredibly backwards.

My understanding is tobacco started out as a holy drug or something with some native tribes, and the way they originally smoked it wasn't nearly as bad as the way we do now. Tobacco as a religious ritual makes sense. You've got a flame and a large cloud of smoke with a distinctive smell, both of which can be symbolic of just about anything you want. As for weed, I enjoy it but I don't make it a major part of my identity like the people Rime is complaining about. I wouldn't wear a t-shirt with a cannabis leaf on it except as a joke, for instance. I'm fairly confident that the costs associated with legalising it would be less than the cost of enforcing a ban, and for that reason alone I think it should be legalised.

RR is speaking favourably about legalizing marijuana? o.0 I have trouble wrapping my brain around that, personally. They're talking about it RATIONALLY, and in-depth, and people are actually saying "Well, why did God allow it to grow here?" Critical thinking! And hardly anybody is spouting cherry-picked Babble verses to show how a little Recreational Leaf Therapy (RLT) is TEH EBIL. Kind of interesting, actually. At least it shows they're maybe not COMPLETELY beyond hope.
