Sure, it's prime vacation time, I get that. It's just that there seem to be a lot of members here that are in high school/university/teach. Our chances of all going are probably going to be higher if it's at a time when the majority of us could probably finagle time off. We don't have to do July. May or June would still be OK.

Not that this changes anything, but sunlight=death for me. Really. I cannot stay in the sun for an extended period of time. I'm not sure if this meet-up would consist of wandering the city or museum visits or jumping buildings. Or something ELSE....................................

Oh, I thought it was going to be a weekend thing, not a proper vacation. I mean, I thought DC was just a day-trip for the people coming, I didn't know people were really going to be schlepping to the area from far away. It's not really my business suggesting times, though. Just that it won't half be crowded in summer, you know?
Also, to go along the vein of Untilitsleeps post, heat = Cait will be a total bitch. Hot weather makes me unbelievably cranky, fair warning.

Whatever works best is fine with me. I figured it would be a day trip also, but I know while the uni is going on, day trips are a little more difficult to arrange. But whatever works.

Yeah, I figured on this being a day trip as well... not a full-on outing. Thought of it as a mini-meet of sorts.
I have the same issue with heat, though if I'm reminded to drink water often enough, it becomes much less of an issue.

I was thinking a day trip as well. Figure sometime like the last Saturday in May or the first one in June. Does that time not work for anyone? And we'd probably hopping from museum to museum to keep out of the heat/sun. After a few obligatory photos on the steps of various buildings, of course.
ETA Joe, I'm glad you saw this thread. I was about to send you a link to make sure you'd come.

Both are good for me. I think. Depends on when the summer classes I'll be taking will be.

That works for me, too. I'll tell Clover what the plan is and leave it up to him whether or not he wants to come.

I propose the construction and use of a weapons-grade hat known only as codename: sombrero.

Nono, do July. Or not. But there's a chance I could make it in July.

San Diego, of course!
Or San Jose. I'm not sure where I'll be in summer.

I thought the late May/early June because it shouldn't (a big word, I know) be too hot yet late enough that most schools should be off by then (I think). But there's no reason we can't do a sequel in July sometime as well.
Stupid question. How well does everyone know D.C.? Like if I said we should meet in front of the Smithsonian castle (it's in the Mall but I have no idea what the actual name of the building) at such and such time, would anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

Heat doesn't make me bitchy, it makes me sick. Like stomach sick. Of course, if it meant being with awesome people, I'd man up...then probably make a quick sojourn to the nearest men's room for a minute or two.
