This video is full of win. I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel's show, but Portia de Rossi (Ellen's wife) was on it last Friday and showed this terrific satiric PSA. It goes after the whiners who say same-sex marriage will ruin things for them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMLV3jPQW44

Can you imagine going to a dinner party at their house? They could serve the vilest food, because you'd be too busy laughing to eat!
I forwarded this to everybody, including--oops!--to my fundie aunts and uncles! Dang accidental "reply all"!

Oh, Gods, if they think I'm apologizing for L'Ailee....*shudder*
Seriously, it may happen. True story: My female cousin and her male cousin met at our wedding. They were as far apart as us--she lived in Alabama and he lived in Ontario. A couple years later, they ironed things out and had a wedding of their own. We were the matrons of honor. A second cousin, who (thank the Gods) I almost never see, said, and I quote, "God is so good! He found a way to redeem even that lesbian fake wedding by using it to bring you together!"
To their credit, they cussed her like she deserved before I could say a word.

I wanna go to a "lesbian fake wedding" even just because it means that same sex marriage will be legal. I hope the sanity in New England travels west soon (the south will only comply when they're forced).

Unfortunately, I really did have a "fake" wedding with my wife. I live in TX and same sex unions won't be legal for another thousand years. But we still had the whole nine, y'know? The officiant, the witness, the reception, etc. It just wasn't legal. I still call her my wife though. We've been together 4 years...I deserve to call her my wife.

I hope you have a real one soon.

That being said . . . er, they thought you were the one getting married?

And if they posted those on YouTube, you wouldn't be sorry at all, right? @ Ozznova: Sorry if it sounds confusing. I have lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles, many of whom are fundie. A non-fundie one married my *wife's* cousin. (She's got lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins, too.) Yet another of my cousins, who is verrrrry fundie, seemed to think that this cross-sex marriage was, like, God salvaging something out of the shitpile she considered our same-sex wedding to be, since that is where the happy couple met. She told them so where L'Ailee and I could hear it. I'm just saying some of my relatives are weird about this stuff. But the ones I sent it to all got the joke in Portia's video. They didn't care for it. I'm okay with that.
