I had a discussion with a friend of mine about Dr King the other day. Now, keep in mind he's an avowed atheist, but we are both recovering childhood Southern Baptists. He said that modern fundamentalist Christians would not like Dr. King had he been alive today. Most modern Fundies preach about things being "God's Will" but then whine and complain about the consequences of their actions "in the name of God." Dr. King knew that he would have consequences to his actions, and he accepted them gracefully, which made his protests all the more effective, in my opinion.
Not to mention, we both thought Dr King would have frowned on the whole "Help Help We're Being Oppressed" mentality many of them have.

I had a discussion with a friend of mine about Dr King the other day. Now, keep in mind he's an avowed atheist, At first, I thought the "he" here referred to MLK. I was both pleased and confused until I figured it out. Obviously, since he was both a member of and the spokesperson for an actually repressed demographic.
