I think it's gross when mothers bring their kids into the stall with them. I'd just make them lean against the stall door on the outside. I think they're just too paranoid of kidnappers.

Anyone seen the South Park episode "Child abduction is not funny"? That is a brilliant episode because of how much the media made the parents panic and also the massive overreactions made by the town of South Park to keep their kids safe that I could almost see happening.
Alert: Strangers are kidnapping our kids Reaction: Build the great city wall
Alert: People the children know are kidnapping our kids Reaction: Parents follow their kids around 24/7
Alert: The kid's parents are the ones kidnapping our children. Reaction: Parents send them off on their own because they can't trust themselves with them.
I feel all this fear mongering is destroying our society. Just my opinion though.

Society has always been built on fear - from the tribe on the other side of the river, to terrorists on the other side of the world.

Society has always been built on fear - from the tribe on the other side of the river, to terrorists on the other side of the world. There's a certain level of fear that's healthy, and a certain level that's not, though. Fear ha united society throughout the ages. This fear, however, is wedging people apart, making communities suspicious. It's unhealthy. There's "If we band together, those wolves stand less a chance," and there's "If we let our kids interact with the town, someone will try and rape them!" And we're on the second. Hell, we're leaning towards pre-emptive acts, including violence, and that was dangerous enough just when it was the Town Outcast. Not that I implicitly trust everyone, but we go apeshit on this.

Exactly. There's a fine line between "caution" and "paranoia".

If the kid was like, 7 then yes, have him/her stand outside the stall. If they're 3 or 4, they sort of need to be 'contained' and in sight at all times in an unfamiliar place.
If they're a little girl and in with their Dad, would you be okay with having them leaning on the outside of the stall, where there's a urinal right across the way?

I assume you were addressing me, and no. I was talking about parents going actually into the stall with the kid, not having them stand outside. If the kid is old enough to use the bathroom, there's no good reason they can't go while the parent stands outside.

Exactly. There's a fine line between "caution" and "paranoia". It's too bad we usually slingshot over "caution" and head straight to tinfoil hats. Or the parenting equivalent.

Ohhh. Sorry, I thought you meant the parent has to go, and has a little kid with them, who is going to run around the bathroom. Not that the kid has to go.

Oh so do I, but fundies are the ones who love to sexualize everything. Nudity? SEX. V-neck top? SEX. Necklace? ZOMG SEX. Yes, but boobies aren't for sex. They are for squishing. During sex.

So North America needs a greater Mongolian population? That would solve everything. Wasn't that the same episode that had Mongols trying to destroy the wall and that Asian resturant owner trying to stop them?
