Oh it's in Culpepper.
Ironbite-yeah I got nothing other then they're idiots in that part of the state.
ETA: Which is to say that they're near Northern Virginia so I have no clue why they're so stupid. I blame the parents.

I wish I weren't so unsurprised by this, but it's Virginia. I was at least a little shocked when California banned the dictionary, but this is par for the course. Said fact will fail to keep me from mocking the decision, though.
"Oh noes, a pubescent girl wrote about her curiousity about her developing body. Whatever shall we do? I know! LET US BAN THIS INFORMATION BECAUSE THAT IS SOMEHOW DIFFERENT FROM OUTRIGHT LYING TO CHILDREN. NOW TO EAT AN ENTIRE RAW STICK OF BUTTER."

I'm not sure which I find more bizarre. That Anne Frank discovered her vagina while hiding out from the Nazis or that people actually try to get her diary banned for stupid reasons like this & "it's too depressing."

Teaching health class must be a real bitch of a time.
"The technical term for the females reproductive organs are the *copious amount of coughing* and *more coughing*. While the males is *more coughing* Remember this for your test on Friday."

As a product of the Virginia School System I can saftly say it's not that bad.
Ironbite-granted I was in the Northern part of the state so that might be why.

FFS. EVERY girl wonders the same thing.
Next they'll probably ban Are You There God, It's Me Margaret (which I've never read but I do know what it's about). Oh wait, it has God in it so they probably wouldn't. >.<

I thought the title meant that it was a girl named Virginia, rather than the state.
IMO, if you're old enough to read The Diary of Anne Frank, you're old enough to know about genitals.

Vaginas are a more mature subject than the mass extermination of an ethnic minority apparently.

From what little I remember, Margaret's parents raised her so that she could make her own choice in religion/beliefs. Her mom's parents are crazy Protestants, her dad's mom is an overbearing Jewish woman, and each of her friends believe something different, so she tries a little of Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, etc. services and tries to feel God. And ends up a little disappointed. For some reason I also remember something about "practicing kissing boys by using pillows!".

I've read more sexual things than that in my science book as a kid.
They gonna ban biology too?
