"Continually confronted with temptation, I occasionally crossed the line, renting movies, buying magazines. I just could not say no, I was ashamed every time," said participant Gene Fredrickson. If you're like Gene, you could try porn addiction boot camp: cbs13.com/watercooler/overcoming.porn.addiction.2.967896.htmlOr, you can accept that it's a normal part of a healthy sexuality and not get all embarrassed about it.

Why is any use of a substance "addiction?" They tried to talk me up for having a problem because I drank with a friend when his Mom died. That was 5 years ago and I've had one drink since.
I din't get where the occasional video or magazine is bad. I think it's when you have ten HDDs full of the stuff that you might want to question yourself, and even then, I'm not sure it's bad until it interferes with yoru life.
Also, how pathetic are these people who do something they think is so abhorrent?

Occasionally. Reflect on that word for a while. Occasionally indulging in a hobby hardly qualifies as addiction, I would think.

There IS such thing as a legitimate addiction to porn, but just "occasionally" getting movies or magazines isn't an addiction. It's hardly even dabbling.

I never understood why fundamentalists are so against something that is natural for the body to do? Do they really consider every sperm to be sacred? Even though the male body produces millions of sperm a day. Or is it because it feels good it has to be wrong because God supposedly wants us to suffer?

Because bodies are "earthly" physical things instead of heavenly, ethereal things. Bodies are the biggest reminder you're not a spirit in heaven with God, which is the ultimate outcome for most fundies. There are also tons of scriptures saying "the flesh is weak" and stuff like that, "sins of the flesh" that sort of thing. Especially if a person grows up fundy, the whole body = reminder of sin thing is pretty strong. So craving other bodies (instead of craving a spirit body, I guess) is also sinful. It's pounded into your head pretty hardcore.

I suppose you'd HAVE to have had it pounded into your head all of your life in order for any of it to make any sense at all, because it all seems very STUPID to me.

There IS such thing as a legitimate addiction to porn, but just "occasionally" getting movies or magazines isn't an addiction. It's hardly even dabbling. Yeah, that's the divide. They're taking what could legitimately be problematic and reducing it to someone anyone who's had an impure thought now qualifies. Now, if you're getting blisters or repetition injuries.... I never understood why fundamentalists are so against something that is natural for the body to do? Do they really consider every sperm to be sacred? Even though the male body produces millions of sperm a day. Or is it because it feels good it has to be wrong because God supposedly wants us to suffer? And if sperm are sacred, what about the ones released unintentionally? You know, like say, nocturnal emissions?

Every sperm is sacred my friend, every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate. Let the heathens spill theirs on the dusty ground, God will make them pay for each sperm that can't be found.

Stopping something completely and spending the rest of your life avoiding it like the plague means you are still addicted.
Wank dude. It's good for you.

So is the notion of original sin, which is where the whole thing starts--because you are born, you are born in sin, concieved by sinners, the "flesh" needs purified, which is why a body was sacrificed for it. It has it's own internal "logic" about it. But yes, it's also very stupid.
