I know some ultra conservative sites were going apeshit when Obama won, because they just didn't want to accept Michelle Obama as First Lady. They kept saying she just didn't have any "class", and I have to wonder what that's code for--what kind of "class" could they be referring to--because MO has never done anything publicly that wasn't classy. I mean, pick on her husband because you hate his politics, I guess, but why take a swipe at Michelle? How on earth could she be considered "trash"? They just don't like them uppity black folk....  Yeah, but it's not like they would be any kinder to her if she was white.  |

Bruce portrays herself a s a progressive and on some issues she seems to be. She was even head of the LA NOW chapter. However she was censured from NOW after making racist remarks. I once skimmed through a book she wrote. If she was a progressive she left that behind some time ago. She's also every homophobic conservative commentator's "good lesbian friend," which is really embarrassing. She gets invoked sometimes as one of the "good ones" because she doesn't seem to like her own LGBT community very much. Unfortunately, she's part of a long tradition of minority individuals who get over by bashing their own minority group where the majority can hear it. I hope the women go Lysistrata for her. Her website: www.tammybruce.com/Regarding Michelle Obama: Well, duh. Obviously Tammy's been rolling around in the trash pile so long that now she thinks roses smell like trash. IOW, she doesn't know real class when she sees it. I've really had some issues with her husband in the past few weeks (still think he's better than McCain.) But she's been a terrific First Lady so far, and I'm proud of her. You see that in my sig! I thought Laura Bush was okay, but has awful taste in men. |
