The whole reason I suggested Chicago is because I literally can't afford to go anywhere else. In mid to late August I'll be stuck in Indianapolis for four years going to college and unable to come up with money to go anywhere farther than Chicago... so if we meet anywhere else the only way I'd be able to make it is if it happens in the summer AND someone else not only pays for my ride but also is willing to get me there themselves.
Sorry all. I'm shit broke.

If I had a license, vehicle and money to travel I'd be interested. Sadly I suck and failed my learners test when I first took it and I keep putting off getting a job.

I really don't see how I'd be able to get to one in New York. St. Cloud would really be the best option for me, closely followed by elsewhere in MN. Des Moines and Chicago areas would also be doable, but something would have to be done for really cheap lodging.
If it is done in the St. Cloud area, I think I'd be able to have a couple people sleep at my place. It's not large, and it'd be on the sofa and floor (and a little something to help with food would be appreciated, as I am only a little above poverty line), but is certainly cheaper than a hotel (and you'd get treated to my spaghetti!).
It's almost seeming that there should be a few smaller meet ups this year, as many of us aren't able to travel to far. Perhaps we could space those out so that those who can travel could get to a couple of them. Perhaps it's a silly idea, but from what others have said I think it's an option that might be worth trying.

I can't afford to leave town. And besides, I don't even have a car.

St. Cloud, MN -- this way there will be myself, Aqualung, SaveTheBales, boxershorts, Oriet, MagniZeal, Redhunter. Redhunter can pack Carico in his trunk! *snort* Just the torso though, I'd like her head as my hood ornament so I can talk to her about evolution on the way there!

I live in the middle of fucking nowhere so anything is going to be a big trip for me. And I'm currently carless but that should change before any definite plans are made, but still.
Maybe there is some way to do a (i don't know what is the right terminology so bear with me) web/pod cast or something? that way others could see the get together even if they can't be there.
Just a thought.

Like a series of video conferences or something? I think someone tried to do something similar when the last IRC was up... I forget who it was though. I just remember that I was invited to it but didn't have a camera.
The picture thread should help to that respect, though, and if we do end up arranging a meet, we could post the names of who all is coming (with what guests... I'm assuming we put a +1 or something on it so people can bring spouses, siblings, children, and whatnot) and either an accompanying picture or a link to a picture of the person belonging to the name. Usernames or real names, either way. I think the choice of being identified by username or real name should be up to each person.

Easiest for me, ideally, would be Seattle. I know Madame Scarlet is there already, and a lot of people over on the west coast might be able to hike it. I like the idea of a few small meetups with lots of pictures.

Yeah, I agree with Akage. I'm starting to think that small, localized meetings with lots of pictures and video clips would be better, at least for the time being. That way, we can all go where is most convenient for each of us (and some of us could go to more than one meeting) at the moment without having to go halfway around the continent.
But I really think it would be a good idea to plan for a full meetup sometime in the next couple of years. Obviously not now, but sometime in the next few years, maybe by 2012? We'd made a hell of a convention, wouldn't we? ATHEISM AND DEPRAVITY ALL AROUND!

On a side note, I will be in New York on the 17-22-ish of May. My parents will be with me from the 17th to the 21st, then, if someone is willing to give me a couch, I can stay back for a bit.

UK please. Preferably down South. That is if I'm still allowed to go given I haven't been around for a very very long time...

Of course you'll have to wear the "only a semi-heathen" dayglo Toga of Shame, but otherwise you're totally welcome. Given that the majority of UKers seem to be sassenach, somewhere south seems invitable. Anybody else interested?

I'd be, depending on dates though. Currently, snowed under a LOT of work, so go figure :/
