This happened to us too.
Our Shih Tzu was urinating very very often, to the point that on a walk, she couldn't make it from one mailbox to the next.
We took her to the vet and the prescribed antibiotics for an infection. Things got better temporarily, but quickly were back to "normal."
Another trip to a better vet found a bladder stone the size of a marble.

Well it's day two of antibiotics. He's drinking gallons of water (literally), but from what I've read, the more water the better.
On the plus side, so far today, no accidents in the house (knock on wood). He seems more obnoxious today, but I'm not sure if that's because he's feeling better or because he's been cooped up since I'm sick.
I'm hoping there's no bladder stones, the vet didn't feel anything.

Sweetie, the best cat I ever had got sick and we couldn't tell, plus we couldn't afford to take care of her when we took her in an found out she would need daily medication to keep her alive. it was suggested that her issues may have been caused directly by our buying of cheap assed cat food. We were poor and eating cheap assed human food. We didn't know and as a result she had to be put down. One of the hardest pet losses I have ever had, and I still miss her terribly. Yours is still alive. Don't feel bad at all, hon. After all, we are only humans.

I got my first cat when she was two months old, and didn't get her spayed until she was about ten months... and during the surgery, the vet found a hernia that, as we talked, I realized she'd probably had since I got her. I felt like an idiot, because I'd even noticed certain symptoms, but had never followed up on them. Fortunately the fix wasn't too expensive and the cat got better, so everything worked out. But I completely sympathize with where you're at.

I hope he gets better. Btw, I saw the pic of you and him in the picture thread. Good posture and nice head! Oh, and the dog looks good too.

Quick update,
I took him into the vet today for an update, it's gotten worse not better. His urine pH is 8 (should be 6-7) and he has crystals. We're sending a sample into the big lab (at an expense of $300.00) to see what the hell is going on. Maybe it's a drug resistant bacteria.
According to the vet, it's not the food, he's healthy otherwise, but he can't figure out why the antibiotic didn't work. Even with drug resistant I guess we should of seen some kind of decrease. We're switching to a food that causes acidic pH and he will not be getting any treats whatsoever. I'm going back to pick him up in an hour.
Well one thing I didn't know. You're not supposed to give a dog cheese when he's on antibiotics. I've been wrapping his pill in cheese slices so he'd take them without the wrestling to get a pill down the throat. Seems that milk products actually hinder the absorption of the antibiotic. Oops.
