See the reason I stopped playing is it was no longer the game I enjoyed as a 10 year old. It still very much can be that game. But there also a lot of deeper levels meant to appeal to an aging original audience who want a more compelling and competitive experience. Though a lot of those factors are "behind the scenes" thing that just aren't a factor if all you want to do is play through the games and have some fun with that. Well it'll be a while until I actually do buy one of the newer games since I'm busy with everything else. I'll be sure to hit you up when I'm thinking harder about it. Thank you.

Okay, so... I actually didn't have too hard a time with the Lanayru Mines boss. I got hit all of three times. I got grabbed by the small claw twice, and then I got ambushed from below in the second phase of the boss fight. The boss went down pretty quickly.
I just now got the first sword power up and have to go back to the Isle of Songs to get the song to the next trial.
One thing that gets me, though...
Miarlins. or whatever they're called. The sky kitties that are nice and friendly during the day and ferocious and mean during the night. I hate fighting them. Not because they're difficult, but the way they run away and cower while whimpering just...
It makes me feel REALLY guilty. And the thing is, they love to attack me at night, so I HAVE to defend myself against them. But... they're so scared... and they're such nice pets during the daytime... I feel like an animal abuser :<
I am really glad they can fly, though. That means I don't have to freak out about accidentally knocking one over the ledge.

If you're interested in getting into the competitive scene, I can point you at a couple sites to help explain some details. On topic: I've been in a large Kaiju mood, so I recently got back into Godzilla Unleashed for the PS2 and am hoping to get it for the Wii too.

I got LEGO Harry Potter 5-7 for 10% off cause the guy fucked up and gave me the wrong disc and I didn't realize until I got home. My dad helped. Now I'm playing it and omg I love the LEGO games. If that makes me less of a hardcore gamer so be it.
@mech- I wouldn't mind taking a look around at those sites to see what I'm dealing with.

I'm playing the HELL out of Sonic Generations lately, since I finally got it downloaded and running properly yesterday. This game is nostalgia porn, and I'm loving every moment of it.

Got Yoshi Story from the Wii Online Store, been forever since I played it and I still love it.
Now Godzilla has some competition for my affection.

Got a sudden burst of inspiration yesterday for Minecraft after having none whatsoever since the 1.8 update. I now have the beginnings of an epic floating mansion in a huge underground cavern (that I hollowed out myself using TNT), complete with a front lawn with a water feature and multiple escape routes. Once this thing is done, I'll be (more so) a thing of beauty.

Oh happy day! Two years ago I lost my discs to (now defunct) Elixir Studio's game "Evil Genius." And today I notice STEAM has it for download for $2.79. I am a happy Scotsman.

And I'm a happy Englishman since this has reminded me that Evil Genius is a thing that exists. I'm going to go play it now. TO THE LAIR! Mwahahahahahahahahaha etc.

You know, GOG has Evil Genius too, same price but without Steamworks or any other DRM. You guys are nuts buying it on Steam.
