The best bit about that particular rumour is that it doesn't even make sense. Nobody has any authority to ban England flags and shirts from pubs except the landlords, who aren't going to because England fans during the World Cup (at least until we got knocked out) are among their most lucrative customers.

Good plan. Alternatively: apparently the Welsh are going to build a massive dragon statue on their side of the Severn. So all we need to do is build a giant statue of St George on our side and then pose him so he seems to be brutally murderising the dragon. This is a rather good idea, although I suspect funding for it wouldn't be very easy to obtain. A solution to the flag problem would be to tell the Welsh that the cross of St. David is there, its just behind the cross of St. George because Wales is a much newer country than all the others. However, I don't think they'd like that very much.
