Seriously? They were going for a Nazi thing? I never would have grasped that.
Nevertheless, the pickelhaube is both timeless and matchless.

Sarcasm Sorry that looks like sarcasm, it wasn't meant to be. I seriously would not have figured it was anything remotely Nazi-related. Pickelhaube and barbed wire (I know it's not limited to WWI, but it's highly iconic) completely ruled out WW2, let alone Nazis. The "I'm a worker" line actually made me think of some kind of really confusing Soviet propaganda ca. 1917.

It's from a hugely popular propaganda poster from WWI - some german brute dragging away an innocent belgian child to commit unmentionable outrages on her innocent flesh.

I figured the cartoon was a play on something, but I had no idea what. Although, honestly, I'm not sure what point it's trying to get across. Violence against illegal immigrants has always been an issue because illegal immigrants are almost always hesitant to go to the cops in the first place. The new Arizona law (which I'm guessing the cartoon was in response to) hasn't changed anything regarding that particular problem. The cops who are going to hassle illegal immigrant victims are still going to hassle them and the cops who turn a blind eye to the victim's immigration status are still going to turn a blind eye to the victim's immigration status.
