I know "Hellfire" scared the shit out of me when I first saw it, but I was young and a prude and scared of Catholics. I know Esmeralda freaked me out when I first saw her, but again I was young and a prude. I was a young, prudish, Catholic fundie, but I still thought Esmerelda was a much better person than Frollo and 90% of the extras. (The "God Help The Outcasts" video didn't hurt in that regard.) Watching some of those scenes again as an adult--WOW, I really need to buy this movie!

I wasn't scared of Esmerelda as a person, I was scared of her sexy dancing and, uh, how I reacted to her sexy dancing. I thought she was really nice and good to Quasimodo, but her sexiness was threatening.

Jealousy, arousal, or both?

Both...ish? Moreso with arousal. I think I wasn't quite to the place where I'd figured out where certain...bits...are or what they do, but I did know that only people with wieners are supposed to like watching girls' bodies.

A little late to the party, but I find it funny that the guy who made the video is doing exactly the same thing as the character. "It's not my fault I'm having dirty thoughts. It's Esmerelda/Disney's fault! They must be stopped!"

It's Esmerelda/Disney's fault! They must be stopped!" I'm not sure he was going that far. I did think at the time it was interesting how much he liked the song though... I thought that spoke volumes, but then all the shit about letters and words that didn't exist just spoilt any possible parallels with its inanity.
