I've been working on a series of vignettes involving the same character. I worked out her basic motivation and personality, but I don't know what to name her. I want something recognizable, but not ridiculous. I want something fitting for her personality. She's a misanthropic drug addict who can hardly deal with everyday life, but she desperately hopes to be a novelist. For looks, she's short and thin, almost pixie-like, with short, messy hair and bloodshot eyes. Her voice is hoarse due to cocaine use. She's extraordinarily twitchy and keyed up, despite being fatigued most of the time. Due to insomnia, she always has rings under her eyes. She's often anxious, depressed, and stressed out when not on her drugs. She is prone to panic attacks.
What should I name her?

Vanessa Taylor Sonja Eden Catriona Salmon
All taken from mix and matching names from the magazine beside me. Really, you just want something a regular person could be named that's appropriate to her ethnicity. Not every name has to have meaning.

As for given names, I thought up these:
Carina Jade Rita Simone Sky
Also, I think the name Cyneburga is gorgeous and underplayed. In fact, I think it's perfect.

Wasn't the alcoholic in Lolita named Rita? I like that. As for her ethnicity, I'm thinking third or fourth generation French, maybe? Third would make sense, because it would mean that her grandparents emigrated soon before the Nazi occupation. So she'd probably have a French last name.

I think Levesque is a pretty good French last name.

Hermossa? It strikes me a name that would sound better in l'accent de la francais.
