I know of a few off the top of my head, but if you guys come up with something you want up on the main page let me know, odds are it'll take a while right now, but I should be able to manage about anything.
Known list: Search Voting Top 100 listing Awards(actually half of this is done, just need to fix a couple display properties and figure out how to handle it)

How about tags for quotes? Basically, put various labels on quotes to make them searchable by tag (and limit the list of tags to something short) - example tags would be along the lines of 'big scary Jesus', 'young earth craziness', 'women's rights' or 'wtf?'
Of course, going through the backlog of quotes and tagging them would be quite a task, but you could have volunteers (like me) do that part once we have the methods of tagging quotes and a list of tags.
This feature would enable people to search all FSTDT quotes for a general theme, like misunderstanding evolution or quotes involving Jesus threatening people. I think the impact of reading post after post of Jesus / God / Angels will kill X will be very neat, and enhance the overall disturbing effect.

Uhh...being able to format would be nice...
so that what we say in response to the fundies doesn't end up looking like one hugh gigantic neverending sentence that goes on for line after line after line on the page with no white space or pauses no breaks for emphasis no chance to rest your eyes while reading it just one endless paragraph that never ends.....never, never, never, never, ever.
well yeah like that ^^^^
Also functional bold and italic tags would be pretty damn useful too, since this is how most people show quotes as opposed to their response....

Well, the responses/commentary shouldn't really be in submissions anyway.

Well, the responses/commentary shouldn't really be in submissions anyway. This is true, but I think ausador was more referring to how people quote the item in whole or part in their comment, especially if they want to address a specific point in a long item.

Oh, I have a somewhat simple request. A link to the forums along the top so you can jump from public admin or comments to the forums.

Directions on the submission page on how to link directly to a certain post or comment. It gets annoying to find a post when the wrong page is linked to and the thread has multiple pages.

Yeah...this is something I like to do, and as it stands, I can't do it. Hell, I can't even make separate paragraphs.

Is the voting option gone the way of all earth, or will it be back?
ETA: Any way you can change it back where the link to the original site and the link to the comments open in a new window?

Yeah...this is something I like to do, and as it stands, I can't do it. Hell, I can't even make separate paragraphs. This is on my todo list for the weekend, I actually have the code, it's just the matter of making it work, consistently... Is the voting option gone the way of all earth, or will it be back? ETA: Any way you can change it back where the link to the original site and the link to the comments open in a new window? Voting will probably be down for a bit, I've got some serious changes I want to make to how it works, and I hadn't even gotten to it when the site bamfed. Directions on the submission page on how to link directly to a certain post or comment. It gets annoying to find a post when the wrong page is linked to and the thread has multiple pages. This varies a lot from forum to forum, I can whine at people who post the wrong page, but can't really give overall directions on how to do it. How about tags for quotes? Basically, put various labels on quotes to make them searchable by tag (and limit the list of tags to something short) - example tags would be along the lines of 'big scary Jesus', 'young earth craziness', 'women's rights' or 'wtf?' I'll have to dig up some controls I wrote a while back, but I do like the idea. File it as after search though, as it'd use a lot of the same logic and require an expansion of the system. Oh, I have a somewhat simple request. A link to the forums along the top so you can jump from public admin or comments to the forums. That I will probably do tonight.

Something you may have done already: for the new forums, so that an over-wide post will break the page layout only for itself and not for the whole page, can you not use a single table for the whole thread?
The old board had this simple feature, this one does not. So for a simple demo, take a look at any of the picture thread in the old board, compared to any thread on this board with a big pic.
(Assuming you're actually using HTML tables for layout, that is!)

Youtube embedding. Ooh and an ignore feature on the forums would be nice. Keep up the good work Distind.

Can I vote against YouTube embedding? For the sake of the surprising number of people who still use dial-up.
Or at the very least, can we not allow the auto-playing youtube videos that are the bane (one of the banes) of MySpace?
While I'm here: I had a thought on the "hot topic" markers that a lot of forums use. Normally these things are just a change in the icon associated with a thread when it contains more than a certain number of posts. But that's a silly idea: if a thread has lots of posts, we can see that by the presence of a list of page numbers under its title. Instead, if we have a "hot topic" marker at all, can it be set by the level of recent activity in the thread? So, for example, a thread that has had 10 or more posts in the last 48 hours would be "hot," but would lose the marker if no-one posted there for a while. The same mechanism would be used to label "dead" threads, which might discourage needless necro-posting.

Glancing at the "users within the past 24 hours" list, I notice there are a few who set themselves as invisible. I'd say we should have that feature on the boards when they eventually go up. I can certainly understand why a few people don't want to be noticed as being online.

Youtube embedding. Ooh and an ignore feature on the forums would be nice. Keep up the good work Distind. Yeah I actually post most of my (amazingly witty and smart) stuff from my work computer, and they've blocked YouTube sadly. So anything embedded from YouTube just shows up as blank.
