It is a troubled time in the Republic. Rebels forces areIt's still in the early stages, but hopefully there'll be a bigger picture that builds across subsequent stories (it's kinda hard to put across the scale of two galaxies in 3,000 words). Incidentally, the site implies that the setting is NGC4038/9 (as depicted in the blog header); this, at the moment, is only tenuously canon, because I can't seem to find out too much about said galaxies. Anyway, that's the plug.

Pretty! I liked Aftermath better than Starboard, probably because of the worldbuilding, but both were good reads.
Is there an update schedule or just, there when they are?

No update schedule, because there's also no fixed length. There's also no fixed writing schedule. Thanks for the feedback. Starboard was actually the harder one to write, even though it was definitely going to be shorter, for some weird reason, so that'd appear to be a small piece of evidence towards my theory that the harder I find a piece to write, the less effective it is.

Fourth story, "Train", is up. Incidentally, it features no trains at any point during the story. It does, however, mark the first story set during the Intersection Wars, so that's a foundation to be built upon.
That seven to ten story target I put up on the About page should be easy to hit, really; the question is whether anyone is reading. Not to impose on anyone here, or anything...

Dunno about everyone else, but I'm reading. Seems promising.

To answer the implicit question: 43 views so far, which isn't too bad on a marketing budget of zero money and a small amount of time.
Somebody went through a load of empty pages I put up, which I now realise was kinda daft on my part. I've now put stuff on all of them, although they all still need expanding in the long run.
Also, new story, albeit a short one with a long title. I swear these are not intended as weekly.

I just read through these, I quite like them. Although I now have a desperate urge to know more about the various civilizations in excruciating detail.

I hate to disappoint, but there probably won't be something on all of the one million Darkworlds, barring humanity's sudden and unexpected ascent to Dharan levels of technology. Anyway, I realised today that avoiding the spam-ish tendencies of posting here every time a new story is up is exactly what I would use Twitter for, hence an account is now up - see sig. Incidentally, the background on the Twitter page is an infrared image of NGC4038/9.

Well, I've now publishing "Vexing", and that's it from the blog until after Xmas. That said, it's about twice as long as stories I usually post, and any reader reading it will no doubt be awed astounded amazed mildly impressed with the way it intrinsically connects with ties into refers back a little to "Aftermath". The other thing I'm posting everywhere is that I have ideas about next year. Unless someone says, in all seriousness, "NO! STOP! They're ALL TERRIBLE!", I'll forge ahead.

Do not stop. Their terribleness level is quite low.
I could've probably phrased that better.

I agree, there is a notable lack of terribleness in those ideas. Me being me, the lines about the Shango language in "Vexing" were just taunting, although the Qareen language is if anything more intriguing. I sort of like the little arc going on with the Qareen and the Bhoot, for what it's worth.

The Bhoot arc sorta closes with the next story in it, although the Bhoot themselves will definitely return, what with being one of the most genuinely speculative* elements of the whole thing. As for languages, I've now added a relevant section to the Dharan, Qareen and Shango pages. *as opposed to the "hey, wouldn't that be awesome/terrifying/dramatic?" elements across much of the rest of it.

So the second series, D./O.C./K.S. (or DOCKS for short) has now started, and should run at a somewhat quicker pace than Digital Artifacts.
The way it runs should be vaguely familiar to anyone who's seen Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - i.e. there are Damocles episodes that are more likely to be stand-alone, Outergalactic Combat episodes that focus on that unit, and Knight Scientist episodes that focus on them. The latter two are more likely to be interconnected, but it's venue rather than relevance to the main plotline that divides the three sub-series.
I have other series in mind, but for the purposes of not overwhelming the blog it'll be these two for now, at least until I've written Digital Artifacts and the "White Star" half of DOCKS.
It's now my worst-kept secret that the Bhoot Trilogy will finish in about three weeks time with "Re"...

Ooh, I like this new series, getting to grip with the Dharans a bit sounds fun.

...so the Bhoot Trilogy is now complete. I should stress, right now, that it'll still be the Bhoot Trilogy even if there's a prequel or another sequel, or even just other stories, because the theme lies in the Qareen missions, not the mere chronology of it.
Normal stand-alone service will resume next month.
