Some of you have wondered why I label myself a fundy when I don't seem to meet the qualifications laid out in FAQ. Well, this link: itib.org/believe.html is the reason. I guess that doctrinally I'm a fundy and perhaps even politically to a point. I'm basically in agreement with the above site, even if not necessarily on the details. You might say that my religious and moral grounding are fundamentalist, but my experiences in life refine certain aspects of it.

There's kind of a difference between being a fundamentalist and being a fundie. The latter is the behavior that the FAQ refers to. It's just that, fair or not, fundamentalists just happened to end up being linked to that behavior, which is why the term is fundie.

For fucks sake...
If you want to be called a fundy, then just start the whole "believe in Jebus or go to hell" shtick. It's not hard. What you've got going now is more along the lines of attention whore than fundie.

What you've got going now is more along the lines of attention whore than fundie. There's a difference? Yeah, attention whores are nowhere near as fun to poke. @jlujan: If you want to get called fundie, it's pretty easy. Pick any of the points on that list (or any other you believe in and think we'll disagree with, shouldn't be hard to find), start a thread in P&W arguing for your position, and see what happens. Give it a day or two, and provided you actually defend your position and not just mumble something about accepting all viewpoints and agreeing to disagree, you'll either convert us all or get someone to call you a fundie. I'm fairly sure the latter will be the case. For extra credit, study the posting history of others who have gotten the "fundie" title. One "Skyfire" will be of much use (but beware the skydodge, it's a dance with the banhammer)

While your document there is a good start on the road to fundiness, you also have to adopt an attitude that everyone who doesn't believe exactly like you do is wrong. Additionally, try taking on the attitude that it is your sole purpose in life to bend everyone to your exact belief system. period. As a bonus, make sure to act happy that people who believe anything different are going to hell.
However, the question must be asked: why bother?

Again, why do you want to label yourself a fundie? Would you be proud of the intolerance, the bigotry, the irrational beliefs and actions, the overall assholery of that stance?

Actually, I wouldn't relish being considered any of those things. Call this my way of "testing the waters". The initial impression I have of this site is one of a willingness to discuss the controversial without automatically resorting to name calling. Then again, I haven't yet gone onto P&W and posted. I'm not much into name calling as I consider it a tad puerile, but certain sections of this site do have it going on, so at least I'll come to expect it there.

Name calling usually doesn't occur unless the poster is being a complete irrational moron and really deserves it. See aboveathletics and Skyfire.

In all honesty, I think he's looking for us to start insulting him and getting mad. He likely believes that if he's not being persecuted, he's doing something wrong, because True Christians are always persecuted for their beliefs. Thus, he's actually a little scared that we're treating him nicely.
He probably came here expecting skeptics to be hate-filled angry people who would start screaming at him the minute he showed up like his leaders have been telling him, and is unnerved that the ones here are nothing like that. However, he seems to think that it's his fault for not acting Christian enough, because he obviously knows how True Christians are treated by skeptics.

Question: Why do you want to be called a fundie? I'd actually like to know this too. Is there some type of personal gain for you to be labled as a fundie?

Either that, or he expects us all to convert at the drop of a hat. I remember these types all too well from being one of them.

"Your fundiness" sounds like a way of addressing a fundy.
