I guess it's time to introduce myself.
I'm a long time lurker, first time poster (at the forum, I post occasionally at the site) .
I've tried to use the IRC, but no one seems to be awake/online when I am, so I'll just have to keep on trying.
Questions? Just DM me.

You sure it's the right one?

Greetings folks. For many moons, we have lurked around here as a ghost. Decided to make it official, as we flit ‘round these parts of the net quite often. Huzzah! Yay, merriment, delight, et al! ~purrs~ It is good to be here.

Well, the jig is up. I've been lurking here occasionally; having been exposed to your shenanigans, I'm going to have to throw my metaphorical hat into the ring!
I'll probably be online in like 12 hours. I just wanted to get this outta the way before I forgot.

Like many others, I've been a shadow around here for a while. I've recently been getting into regular arguments with a fundie on FB, so I started submitting some of his quotes and exploring more of the site, which lead me here to the forums. So here I am, I am MonkeyBoy, and I am right here, standing in front of you… right here. Here I am.

Alright, well, I'm not exactly new, but I hadn't posted an introduction when I was, and I kind of think I should give you guys an idea of what kind of person I am.
I know that so far I'm not terribly well-liked, and possibly considered a nuisance. But I'm not exactly a normal person, and I'd like to clear up any misconceptions.
I was raised in a Secular-Jewish home. Though my parents liked the feeling of belonging, of cultural history that came with Judaism, I was not given any particular religious or spiritual belief system. Nor was my upbringing critical or academic. I was raised by a hippie artist who just wanted me to go my own way and know myself.
I grew up with something of a 'faith in science'; the idea that there are hundreds of educated professionals who understand the world an awful lot better than I do, and they're constantly jostling to make sure their various assertions are as correct as they possibly can be, and that even though -I- don't understand a lot of it, they do, and I should probably defer to their greater knowledge.
I was also totally unaware of a lot of peoples' religious beliefs - I had never even HEARD of Creationism, growing up. I am lucky enough to live in Toronto, which is a very liberal and progressive place. Evolution had always been a fact in my schools.
And I'm the first to admit that my education is lacking. I have some learning disorders and I dropped out once I got my GED. I regret it, but I couldn't stay on, there were painful and difficult things going on in my life.
In a lifetime sense, the whole method of critical thinking, the way it works, what it means, is all really new to me. There's a lot here that I've only discovered in the past couple of years, and I'm learning how to use it. It's almost a new language, it means having to totally rewire how I think, how I analyze things. So though I regularly do and say very silly things, I'm not doing it on purpose; I will take correction in the spirit it's meant, and I will learn from it.
I have no ill-will, nor hate, nor any agenda. I want to live peacefully, and to influence those who come into my world in a positive way.

Hello, everyone. I am Chagen, a 15-year old lover of this site. It's quite possibly the greatest time waster ever.
I am an Agnostic Christian Deist. That means, yes, I believe in God. I would appreciate that my faith not be discriminated against, please.
I'm pro-homosexual rights (I'm bisexual myself), pro-gender equality, pro-equality in everything really. I take the position of the Bible being a flawed document that was written and tainted by human hands, and therefore is not infalliable. I also believe in the Virtous Pagan.
I love science (physics and chemistry have got to be my favorite subjects of all time, besides mathematics), I'm a Rationalist, and I accept things such as the theory of evolution (really, it's impossible to be sane and deny it).
Of course, to the Atheist majority of this site, I cannot exist. Or I have to be a homophobic and insane fundie because I believe in God.
Maybe some of you should take a look at yourselves, and realize that you're as bigoted as the fundies you claim to hate.
But I digress.
