As long as Alucard is the same, characterisation/personality wise, they could make it about a concrete wall that needs to be painted before it starts to rain and it'd still be a good show lol. He's alot darker in the new series. It also has alot more gore in it, which might turn most original fans off to it.

Not sure I'd be in favour of a brighter art style for Hellsing though, to me it suits a dark style. Just as long as everything isn't rainbow coloured or bright pink and baby blue I'm sure I can live with it. Not brighter as in technicolor. lol Its brighter like most of the newer anime is. The original was in between the older drab color of anime and the new brighter color.

Lovely Complex: High school romantic comedy. Absolutely hilarious. Loveless: Hard to explain. The main character is a sixth grader who has problems connecting to people, secondary main character reminds you a lot of a pedophile. Few battles, a lot of weird 22 year old coming on to a 12 year old but it's damn good. Air: I've only seen 5 episodes so far but it's pretty good. Kinda weird but no giant robots, bigass hair, bigass planet destroying explosions, ect.
I'd reccomend Afro Samuria but it's American but still fucking awesome.

I would suggest the manga/anime, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. It's about some Japanese teenagers who form a rock band, and features many, MANY shoutouts to rock idols.

Girl's High School and Love Love? are both good but I have no idea if you'd like the whole harem excessive fanservice thing.
The latter has more than the former even though each episode of the latter is only 15 minutes long.

Supposedly, Funimation will be streaming the new Fullmetal Alchemist series a week after each episode airs in Japan, with full subtitles. A free and legal way to get subbed anime!
Hulu has some Bleach on it, too, and possibly others.

Goota remember to watch that.
Moar reccomendation: Tales of the Abyss. Anime based off the video game. I've watched a few episodes and played the game and love them both.

I'll recommend Haibane Renmei and Nodame Cantabile, though the latter's only available in fansubs at the moment.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is also good. Its a movie but it has a great story, and well drawn.

Must: - Be Japanese (should be an obvious one)
- Have casual dialogue, but still grammatically correct
- Not be mind-fuck crazy
Preferences: - Something light, more like a day-to-day-no-crazy-robots kind of thing
- Something interesting
- Something funny
- Something with a brighter art style
Lucky Star would be a good starting point. It has alot of anime fanboy jokes but still funny to anyone not a fanboy. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is also good. It has some supernatural stuff in it. Its kinda like a day to day thing while crazy stuff happens without the main charcter noticing. (its hard to describe ) There's also Fruits Basket(people turn into animals) and Sister Princess (which is kinda a girly anime) Its kinda hard to recommend anime without going into the ones with the supernatural, monsters or giant robots. I love you simply for mentioning that one. Not just because I love it but also because you saved me the trouble of mentioning it myself.
