Writing. Stories, journal entries, and I used to write poems, but the idea well kind of ran dry and the last one I wrote was a re-write of a past one I wasn't satisfied with.

Make that 13.
Seeing as it came up in Thread Killer recently, I should probably ask: would a Writing Project have worked better than the Music Project that died utterly about 18 months ago?

Music - played guitar and sang professionally for several years, now I just play and sing for my own amusement.
I also enjoy writing poetry, song lyrics and such, and I dabble in landscape painting when I canoe-trip in the summer.

That would be... interesting. Though I do have to point at the crossover fanfiction contest, which I think it would be uncontroversial to say didn't quite work out.

I imagine a writing project wouldn't be something I could get away with such classics like Zach's Sandy Vagina and Redhunter Jinxxxed.

That would be... interesting. Though I do have to point at the crossover fanfiction contest, which I think it would be uncontroversial to say didn't quite work out. True enough, but (and correct me on any point where I'm wrong), the following things kinda went awry: 1. it excluded anyone who doesn't write fanfiction (erm... well, probably just me, actually, but all the same), 2. there was some sort of deadline, 3. some people didn't quite seem to get what they were writing. Therefore it follows if any collaborative project (of any kind whatsoever) is to succeed on this forum, it needs to: 1. be open to as many people as possible, 2. be open at pretty much any point, 3. be able to operate on a clear mutual understanding. Point 3 is also where I think the Music Project tanked, because everyone aimed at their particular niche without there being any conscious idea about how to make it all harmonise into a multi-genre thing. In the case of a writing project, there'd need to be an obvious and well-understood shared universe, which probably calls for a multi-user blog or a wiki. Not that I've thought about any of this, mind.

I excluded myself not exactly because I don't write fanfiction, which I don't, but because if I were to start I'd do it with a fandom I was intimately familiar with, not one randomly assigned. It is a fair point anyway.
Deadlines, well, some people need them so they don't indefinitely postpone writing. Which, I notice, I'm doing anyway, stupid lack of motivation. But they can be self-imposed.
I should probably take this to a new thread.

I'd considering taking part in some fanfiction writing group if it were about something I'm familiar with.
Last (and only) one I took an interest in, the self-proclaimed leader was a complete git and I'm pretty sure he was the sole reason it failed.

I could do it if I knew the fandom.

What did become of the music project, anywya? I mean, why did it die? How does a writing collab work, anyway? Never really been clear on that.

I draw from time to time. I used to do it a lot, but now my skills have died horribly due to not really doing it much...
