Every few days this window pops up telling me that someone on the network has my IP address, and my internet stops working.
Usually all I have to do is turn off my computer for a few minutes and then everything is back to normal, but a few times it has taken a day or two before the internet will work again.
At first I thought that I was getting a new IP address everytime I turned off the computer, but I checked, and I still have the same one.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and is there a way I can prevent it from happening again?

The only time I've encountered that problem is when I have a mix of computers using static and dynamically assigned IP addresses on the same network (and it's set up wrong).
Do you have a home network?

No, I'm on my school's network.

Ah. I see. In that case I would just make sure your computer is set to use DHCP (dynamic IP address). Here's the first directions on how to do that I could find. Never mind that it's from Finland, just read the English part.
