BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romania has changed its labor laws to officially recognize witchcraft as a profession, prompting one self-described witch to threaten retaliation.
The move, which went into effect Saturday, is part of the government's drive to crack down on widespread tax evasion in a country that is in recession. In addition to witches, astrologists, embalmers, valets and driving instructors are now considered by labor law to be working real jobs, making it harder for them to avoid income tax. For months the measure had been debated, protested by witches and mocked by the media. On Saturday, a witch called Bratara told Realitate.net, the website of a top TV station, that she plans to cast a spell using black pepper and yeast to create discord in the government. www.mail.com/int/news/europe/104514-witchcraft-declared-legal-profession-romania.html#.2396-stage-related-2

As much as calling this asinine stupidity that is witchcraft a legitimate profession is quite silly, if it's strictly so they can be taxed I see no harm in it.

Seeing that this actually has to do with people providing services to other people, then this is perfectly fine.
If they were being taxed for private practice as a spirituality, theeeeen I'd be worried.

I like that they're complaining about being granted legitimacy.

I like that they're complaining about being granted legitimacy. Oh noes, I have to actually pay taxes for a service I am offering! The horror! The shame! The persecution!

It's like legalizing prostitution and pot for the tax money. Except, you know, prostitutes and pot actually do something.

Though studying witchcraft is interesting, I wonder how much someone would get paid And what is exactly they will be doing, teaching witchcraft in school or selling witchcraft supplies (they have stores like already).....? Hmm, I know dumb question but just wondering And yess I agree with katz, pot and prostitution actually does something that will benefit a lot of people (and no I am not saying witchcraft isnt real, though I havent seen magic personally like that, it is actually an interesting thing to look into if you wanted to)
