I had my first day at uni on Monday. At the Unierversity of Queensland if you care. It was incredibly frightening, although better than school by far. I have days off! My first lecture was political science.
Now I have told you about my first day, you have to tell everyone else about yours!

My first day at college/uni I forgot what room number one of my lectures was in, at least I knew what building and floor. So there I am going into every damn lecture hall on the floor asking people what class was meeting in there. I went through 7 rooms before I found the right one. At least you didn't do that.

Your first year will be a blast. Enjoy it as much as you can. The following years, especially your final year, you will have all your social life sucked out of you in the name of DISSERTATIONS.
But seriously, have a good time.

At my school we have this thing called the PRT. I was on it at about seven in the morning on my very first day, about a year and a half ago, and I for some reason thought the PRT was going to make two stops, and I had to get off at the second. Well, it did not make two stops, it only made my stop. I did not get off. And the PRT did not moved. I was just sitting on it while everyone else got off, and I looked like the big moron. I sat on it for about five minutes (alone and with the door shut) before I realized my mistake. I pushed the button to contact the office so they could open the door for me, and no one answered. People started to enter the platform, and they could see me just sitting on it. And of course, they pointed and laughed at me. I pressed the button about every thirty seconds, but still, no one was answering. Finally, after about twenty of the most humiliating moments in my life the door opened for the kids to get on, and I hightailed it out of there so fast. I could hear people yelling things at me, but I don't actually know what they were saying. And ever since then I have hated the PRT. So your first class is political science, eh? I am the work study for my school's poly sci department. It's no bueno. I hope you enjoy yourself at school. And congrats on being there. And good luck, of course.

My first day of college I slept through my first class because I was too hungover. Ya, the rest of the year was kind of just a repeat of that first day. It's a miracle I even got through one semester.

Years ago, I was primed for my first day by people who pointed out that 2/3 of us would flunk out. Some schools would be appalled by that statistic, but Rutgers was apparently proud of it. Needless to say, I started out pretty scared; especially since out of 1,500 freshmen, they only graduated 35 math majors!

I guess my first day wasn't very memorable. I do remember getting lost the first week trying to find the payroll office (I work on campus). I think that my first class was calculus, but I can't be sure.
Or, I could talk about today, where I all but feel asleep during advanced cell, wondered if the professor forgot she had a lecture scheduled, and played with bacterial cultures. But that's nothing out of the ordinary.

There is so much alcohol between my first day, and today, that I can't remember a single thing about it. I do remember my first on-campus job. I was part of the grounds crew and I got up at 5:30 in the morning to use the leafblower on the brick paths. That was fun. They wouldn't let me drive the lawnmowers though.

I shall be starting uni next Monday at the University of New South Wales. My Monday mornings this semester consists of 4 hours straight of lectures, followed by another lecture at 3:00. I really have to think my timetable through next semester.
Ah well, at least the alcohol is cheap.

I myself have been back for almost three weeks now. Started my third year in the middle of February.
On a side note, from passing by the university of Queensland a couple of times, looked like a nice place. A couple of the other students on the mine-site I worked on study there.
I myself am studying at one of the universities in Perth.

I shall be starting uni next Monday at the University of New South Wales. My Monday mornings this semester consists of 4 hours straight of lectures, followed by another lecture at 3:00. I really have to think my timetable through next semester. Ah well, at least the alcohol is cheap. I have an enormously slack timetable. I have four subjects: reporting, introduction to journalism, introduction to political ideas, and asian studies. I'm doing a dual-degree arts/journalism degree. Where is this slack, you might ask. Here is is. Reporting has a 1 hour lecture per week, and a two hour tutorial every second week. Introduction to journo has the same, except the tutes are every week. Asian studies has only a 2 hour 'contact' lesson. The only non-slack subject I'm doing is Political ideas- a two hour lecture and a 1 hour tutorial every week. I can't figure out whether this is because I'm first year and they're being nice to me, because it's arts and they're pansy, or whether it's because I have a lot of assignment work but no exams. Oh it absolutely is. The grounds look amazing, particularly the law/arts buildings, the lecturers are all reasonably pleasant people and the uni has many, many, many excellent guest lecturers come in to lecture us. Also, many of my freinds going there. The absolute only complaint I can raise against it is that it is too big. I'm sure that I'll find others.

I only clearly recall one day from my first year of university, and that's purely incidental because that day was September 11, 2001. And I didn't drink a drop of alcohol all through college, so I have no excuse.

First year timetables always suck - for some reason first year maths class are always at 8 am, i followed this with 3 more science classes then a short break to stand in a giant line for food from the uni catering service - not getting food poisoning at this point was always a bonus - then of to an afternoon of labs... actually that was pretty much my timetable through out my undergrad =(
now a cynical, bitter and twisted grad student any time when my head is not exploding from information overload is spent binge drinking in a desperate attempt to block out the shit. Good Luck and remember uni students work better under pressure - you can start the assignment tomorrow
